Day 3 of 7-day Test Drive
My third consecutive shave using this fine razor. With two shaves
under my belt (there's that unfortunate idiom being used again in a
shaving context! ), I'm feeling more and more confident in my use of this Mastro. Unlike yesterday's shave where I managed to earn a small nick from the point, this morning's effort provided just an über-close shave with no irritation. I failed to mention in my other two postings about the
sound this razor makes. The large full-hollow blade is quite
resonant during the shave! Most full-hollows make a distinct shaving sound as the edge slices off the stubble and this large Damascus blade is no exception. Noisy and sharp!
The most challenging pass for me using this razor is the
'ear to chin' pass due to my getting acclimated to the spanish point on this razor. I'm used to hollow, square, round, even sharp spike points—but this forward-leading tip has me 'on edge' carefully navigating it so as not to catch it on my cheek. Practice, practice, practice...
Three down, four to go!
Making a Damascus blade: definitely 'old school' where all manner of shop protection (gloves, ear plug, safety googles and masks) are deemed
unnecessary...
