NOVember - NO Variation November 14 The only variation for me this month has been my sleep pattern. It's kind of nice to have a variable morning. I get to decide whether the alarm is right or not and this morning it was an hour too early. So, reset it an slept an hour away then got up and straight to work after coffee. No time for a shave but that's ok. Just means a double growth tomorrow to spend some quality time on. Hope your Saturday was a good one!
November 14 Razor – !974 Gillette SS Blade – GSB Brush – AOS Badger Soap – Gada Cool Mint shave cream Post - Cold water splash, Witch Hazel and Ice Blue Aqua Velva Another good but not great shave with this combo. I have decided this combo just can't give me a BBS shave. I went three passes again and ended up with a nice irritation free shave even on my chin. Nice and smooth but after a couple hours definite stubble showing. As a result it is another DFS shave but still no BBS with this combo.
14 November 2015 Day 14 No Variation November! Utopia three-piece Gillette Silver Blue (14) L'Occitane Plisson Synthetic Proraso Barbe Dure Alum TSD 2x Iced FW type AS Splash 14 in a row on the GSB! Was able to get to two pass DFS per usual! Looking forward to getting caught up on the goings-on a bit later tonight! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado! Tide Rolled. Have a great weekend!
Nov 15 Focus shave 15 On to a new soap, this time it is the famous/infamous Arko. Fortunately / unfortunately this puck is old enough that the scent is gone. Fortunately the performance is still there. Per it's reputation and my experienced it lathered very easily and quickly there was lather everywhere. That is why I used a small brush, my Simpson Tulip 2. The first three passes where slick and smooth. Did all of the 4th pass except for the 'fools pass'. The alum block revealed some tingling. The result was near BBS, I missed some spots at the bottom of my neck and the point of my chin. Great to see you progress Adam, if you can master the pain stick you can shave with anything. Maybe next month I will take out the CJB and shed some blood to improve my technique. No pain No gain.
That's a great idea. IF you get the stick containers from Michelle, let me know what you think. BTW, the Sardinean Honey is awesome.
No variation is hard. I'm drooling over my other razors, brushes and soaps. I also still have nearly 100 blades to try out. All my shaves this month have been automatic easy shaves. The Y2 Superspeed is too nice of a razor. I should have picked my shavette and joined in with the fun this month with blood, pain and good cheer. Or my Sterling to rival @NCoxSTLs rapira shave. I'm bored by my shave so far. I'm thinking about shaving. My brush is soaking to get warm and there is a dab of water soaking into the Proraso.
November 14, 2015 No Variation NoVember This No Variation month is perfect for me to learn skills with new-to-me equipment. Razor: Mongoose B3 Blades: Feather Artist Club Professional (2) Soap: Saponificio Varesino Manna Brush: Omega 31025 Scarlatti Boar AS: Changes at will. Today: Myrsol Limon My shave frequency has tapered off this week since I fractured a couple of my ribs a week ago. Hence my movement along on the training path for this set-up has not been as consistent as I’d like. Three-day growth, three-pass shave. (WTG,XTG,ATG) Face-lather. Still struggling with my ribs, but needed a clean shave. I got that and more. My technique wasn’t the best (a few missed spots). But all in all a very clean shave. Cheers! RT
I am sorry to hear it's not calming down yet. Hang in there! Only time... People don't realize how much ribs move until they break a few. I hope you heal up completely and quickly from here!
You want more thrill? You could always try shaving without the razor, just hold the blade between your thumb and your index finger
You can do it! And then when you finish...you can say you did and good-naturedly harass the people who do it next year, like @Boojum1 does now. But you gotta finish to get that satisfaction of doing it first!
I'm on my second GSB already, so I'll use at least three. Was ready to give up on the first one after shave 5 but I got 3 more nice ones out of it. Well - if 2 blades would get me through a whole month I wouldn't ever have to buy any new blade in my life
