Thanks RyK. While I'll try the new fangled stuff as I can, I've decided I'll primarily be an old school guy concentrating on vintage razors (G2 Fatboy, TV Special, Ranger so far), soaps (Williams and Arko before these), Aftershaves (Aqua Velva, Brut so far) I intend to add some more old school aftershaves later today and Mitchell's Wool Fat and Tabac are on the radar. Blades I'll stay current and I hope most my brushes will be vintage reknots. I've got a Red Tip and a Tech I made an offer on and my quests will be Old Type, Leresche, Henckel, and Grand Shave King.
Following up my red tip arrived yesterday afternoon and I test drove it this morning. I think I found my new favorite razor! I had begun to hate my astra sp blades but now I realize the problem was I having to make too many extra passes on my problem areas where hair seems to grow in every direction imaginable. With the red tip I achieved a BBS easily with 3 passes and could have stopped at two. Great perfectly balanced razor and the extra width on the handle is well appreciated.
Got this today. The shaving scuttle is from Georgetown Pottery. It is a Second and I can't see any defects It was only $35 instead of the regular price of $60 The Windsor smells amazing. This is my first time with the MWF and the Dr. Harris Shave cream.
Thanks! I am still a true beginner in shaving. I hope these products earn their keep and treat me right.
We might have to talk to the FEDEX about that. If it is your's, I'm keeping it. . Tell them to send a second batch.
They are high quality products, should provide for some great shaving experiences. Let us know how you like them.
I will definitely let you know what I think of them. I think I will get started with the Dr. Harris Windsor w/ my Merkur Progress.
Diamonds! Literally hundreds of them! More than I can count! Of course, they're arranged in neat little piles... ...on a big aluminum plate. Ideal for stone/hone flattening.
First bay purchase in a while, got this old Rubberset brush for 6 bucks shipped. Gonna restore it with a TGN knot.
I won this Ever Ready 500 PB (pure badger) on eBay for $1.74 plus $3.50 shipping. Must have been lightly used as the knot appears to be in great shape. If not, I can always put in a new knot......... Update, I don't think the brush was ever used. Excellent knot which I believe is Silvertip!
