I agree Neal. I suppose once you've mastered the tools even the mild SS performs well. I like the way they shave.
Strange shave tonight it has cooled down now no burns no cuts feels great had to endure over an hour of burning from my a/s which has never happened has anyone had this occur before?
Cold water for a final rinse helps the remaining stubble stand out (and up) so it is easier to dispense with on the final touch up. At least, that's the way it seem to me.
That could be caused by irritation from the shave that you didn't feel until you hit it with the A/S. The extra irritation from the reaction could keep it burning longer. It's not always to notice how much irritation the shave has produced until either alum is applied or the A/S.
12/15/15 Gillette New LC Rapira Super Stainless (2) Vulfix Super Badger (660) Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic Georgetown G12 Scuttle Pinaud Clubman Original Busy day. Just able to get through all the posts. Whew! Once again with the Stirling MITA and the Rapira Super Stainless in the New LC. A small amount of warm water on the top of the soap to soften while I soaked my brush. Afterwards, I poured the little that was left into my scuttle. I squeezed out the brush and loaded it for about 45 seconds. This gave me more than enough product. Built the lather in the scuttle adding water from time to time as needed. After a bit I was rewarded with a ton of slick and creamy lather. 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Very good reduction. Pass 2: ATG. I did almost no touch up because there was only one place where I could feel stubble. At that point my face was feeling BBS. Did a cool water rinse and some areas needing more attention revealed themselves. A small amount of touch up in my trouble spots and the baby came home. The Pinaud Clubman stung a little, about like it did yesterday, but it settled down quickly. The brush still had enough lather for another two or three passes. A comfortable BBS from the Stirling MITA and the Rapira Super Stainless in the New LC. The Stirling MITA lathered well but I should have added a little more water for the first pass. The razor seemed to drag and the soap felt a little dry. I rinsed off my razor more often and that helped. For the second pass, I wet my face really well before lathering and I had no trouble afterwards. I like the Stirling MITA but I'm almost out of my small sample. I may bring out a different soap tomorrow and save what is left of the MITA for some future Monday. Hope everyone had a terrific Tuesday!
I had one shave like that when I tried face lathering Mystic Waters Lime. I don't know if it was because I beat my face with the brush for several minutes trying to get it to lather or if my skin didn't like one of the essential oils in the soap. But my face burned for several hours afterwards. I saved a small sample so I can try lathering in a bowl and see if I still get that burning sensation when I finish. I like to experiment, but I think I'll wait on that one.
Dec 16 Shave 2.9 DR Harris Marlborough is up for it's SR test. Today I added some liquid lanolin which seemed to help. I was a little worried about using this with a straight so I picked my easiest shaving straight a PRC kamisori. Got through all 4 passes without any rough feeling, everything felt right. While this is not an ideal cream for SR shaving in my opinion it was adequate and the addition of lanolin made a huge difference, it felt a little slicker and the aftershave feel was much better. I had high expectations as I tested for the irritation and closeness. The alum gave me only the faintest tickle, awesome. I thought I had nailed the BBS but faceturbating revealed I was very close but not quite there. All in all an excellent shave. Irritation A Closeness A- D.R. I does help 'tighten' up you skin, close any weepers and brings blood closer to the surface to facilitate healing. Plus it feels refreshing. After a rough shave I will rub ice on my face.
Yes and no. Huge like it hold a ton of lather very easy, The Pro 48 may be a bigger brush but this Silvertip is soft...
