Two Red Tips and Two autostrops (won't use). All before cleaning One Red looks good the other has some wear and needs TLC. Packaged buy in late 2015. Currently soaking in cleanser.
my antique brush arrived from Portugal it was in the box, but no clues about the brush were gleaned. it feels like chromed brass, boar knot, used. I cleaned it up, probably leave it as is, until the knot starts to lose hair. it's a nice old brush, but it's not a ww, or Doug Korn, or Oscar11. even old boars smell like a wet dog. must not have been used too much, right?
Thanks been soaking these since I got them. Planning a 24 hours soak. I have already dumped the old cleaning solution and replenished with new 4x. I find the addition of an oxygenating brightener solution really loosens up the dirt. Next step will be cleaning and polishing before a proper presentation.
I picked up a gem micromatic clog pruf it's user grade, priced ok at the antique shop. I've wanted to try one, they are pretty common, but I've not had one. till now.
Might not be of those you listed but it is still a uniquely beautiful brush. Nice score David. Dzia Dzia likey. ... To be continued... Don
:mail: Well my Gillette Milord finally arrived from Texas. It went on a little trip around various post offices in S Florida the last couple days but it finally arrived today. It turned out to be another birth year razor totaling three now. Here it is all cleaned up with the two bottles of wonderfully smelly stuff that arrived Monday... The gold plating doesn't show up to well in the photos but only has minor loss on the doors and the knurled grip on the handle. It will be used for tomorrow evening's shave. Second in rotation for replate behind my birth year Aristocrat. ... To be continued... Don
Having owned the trilogy of GEM MM Bullet-Flying wing, C-P and OCMM I can offer my insight. The Clop-Pruf can do anything the OCMM can do (BBS) without the tension the OCMM brings to the shave. I could not get a decent shave out of the B/FW to mild for a decent BBS for me. Find the OCMM can be tamed if a light grip is used allowing the razors weight as the pressure. To summarize the C-P is more forgiving especially for the first time Micromatic user who is looking for something "efficient".
