2/8/15 Shave #8 with the Persona Lab blade and the results are outstanding again. Also used the Avon Spicy for the 2nd time. I don't think it is a clone of the Shulton formula of Old Spice, but it is nice and has a bonus of feeling a little cooling after about 10 seconds. This car was an early Valentine gift from my bride.
February 8 Menthol Monday Edwin Jagger DE89 Feather (1) PSO, Hot Shower, Nivea Face wash Omega 10066 Boar Shaving Brush Chiseled Face Cryogen Soap Alum, Chiseled Face Cryogen AS Mod Cabin Holysuckle Beard Balm Got lazy all weekend, so it was a three day growth this morning, The EJ+Feather knocked it right down though. Not sure I'm a menthol guy, but I will give it another shot next Monday. Once I can feel my face, I will determine how good of a shave I got, feels smooth. Can't tell if I got any irritation yet...
2/8/15 Shave of the Day Razor: Cattaruangus Green Lizard Strop: Drygulch Chromexcel Horse/ Linen Soap: Eufros (Jabonman) Dame de Noche Aftershave: Jabonman Dame de Noche This is one of the first razors I found in the wild, which Kevin @HolyRollah restored for me last year. He mentioned at the time that it took a very light touch because of being extra hollow ground. I used it seven times, but had a hard time getting a good shave with it. Decided to give it another go today. BBS in 2.5 passes. Kept the touch light, now that I understand what that means. Great shave with the Dame de Noche.
February 8, 2016 Proraso red pre shave Gillette Heavy Tech/ Gillette 7 o'clock Sharp Edge (Yellow) Omega/TOBS Natural WH / Nivea ASB I decided to change my process a bit. I am going to use the same razor for two weeks and do one week with the Gillette Super Stainless (green) and the second week with the same razor with the Gillette Sharp Edge (yellow). In this way I can get a more immediate sense of what the blade differences are. And already I can tell the difference: This is my second shave with the Sharp Edge blade and already I can tell it is starting to mellow a bit....not as edgy as my first shave yesterday. This is in contrast to the Super Stainless blade that kept its edginess for the entire week last week...and didn't mellow even after a week of shaves. I will be anxious to see how the yellow mellows over this week of shave. And a bonus...the TOBS -- I can actually tell I am getting near the bottom of this tub! That will be a first.
Had a great shave today. Angle was low, lather was slick. Only had a small nick on my Adams Apple. It was an Old Spice kind of day
Mongoose Focus I switched to a Kai Mild blade today. I actually got a pretty nice shave today. I expected to have to work harder with this blade than with a Feather Pro. I did two passes and got BBS on the face and DFS on the neck without irritation. I'll stick with this blade for a while and see what happens. SOTD Route 66 Sea and Citrus Doug Korn brush Mongoose Kai Captain Titan Mild (1) Florida Water Have a great week!
After some encouragement and personal invitations, I'm in for February. I started on the 5th, so this might not be a 30-Day Rule. The outfit: Plisson Synthetic C. O. Bigelow 1941 Ranger Tech Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum (black)
Welcome! No one is worried about being in for exactly 30 days, etc. Anyone is welcome whenever they can join! This is a great group with terrific advice and camaraderie.
What was your impression or review of the Route 66 Sea and Citrus soap? I want to get some of their samples one day, but I certainly don't NEED any. I've seen so many great reviews of Route 66.
Day 8 Schick repeater focus Day 2 with the Schick type B and it was a good one. Once I got the angle right, it was smooth sailing. The type B is a quite solid compared to the type A and doesnt require any pressure at all. I cant seem to get BBS with this razor but a decent DFS is easily had.
Glad to see you are finding something that works better for your neck. I have better luck with the Mongoose using ATG and XTG passes on my neck. This seems to play to the strength of the blades and cuts down on the number of passes.
Razor: Gillette Red Tip C2, 1957 Blade: Gillette Platinum (2) Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip Soap: TSD Irish Spring Type A/S: Route 66 Sweeney Todd (TEST) Focus this month is working very well. There is something to be said about using the same product.
I love the performance of Route 66 soaps. They lather wonderfully and are slick. Up until today, all of my experience was with the Sweeney Todd scent. While the Sea and Citrus is a very nice scent, I still prefer Sweeney Todd as the Sven lasts longer. You can't go wrong with Route 66.
