thank you for replying. I am probably following in your footsteps. I bought a strop from duke City vintage shaving and we've been close every since. I have everything I need to take one apart and put it back together and most of the knowledge to get it done. I don't know how to private message but thank you so much for replying this is really great.

where do you find your information at? you sound like you know so much and I can't find anything. there's got to be some places besides the simple Google searches with some info on straight razors

First on the SRP forum, it really is the repository on all thing SR

        https://sharprazorpalace.com/

Here on TSD we have quite a few actual experts too

Plus I started using them in 1981 and have been honing and restoring them since 2006 professionally.. I know things hehehehe

Hello, sir. I'd like to send you that Torrey if that offer still stands. It was also suggested that I requested that you strop it for me as well, so that I have no opportunity to affect the edge after getting it back by stropping it myself? I can compensate you for your efforts.

Thank you so much for your offer

Good afternoon friend, a member suggested I get in touch with you regarding honing my straight razor. Long story short I was under the impression that my honing technique and skill were both acceptable but I have nothing to compare my work to. I was hoping I could send you one of my straight razors so you could hone it properly for me to use as a benchmark for my future attempts at honing my blades.

Hey, thanks again for all that useful advice. My 4k/8k stone showed up today in the mail damaged so I had to send it back. In the meantime I have a question about the circle technique: given that my Dovo is new and appears to have the factory's bevel on it, should I still go ahead and do circles or can I just draw the blade up and down the stone?

Hello, I'm the newbie to the forum that asked you about custom scales for my Feather Club. My wife says I have enough bone handled razors, but maybe a nice blue acrylic? Maybe with a pearlescent effect? Price range, I have no idea what you would want... maybe 50-60 bucks? Let me know if you're interested and we can talk later.
      Till then,

      Hello,
Stumbled across your name on a post. Do you still make custom handles for SR? I love my Feather Club, but hate the handle. If you do still make handles, what would be the cost (ballpark)? I'm partial to bone, just the simple elegance of it.

hi.i have a question about honing. i have a c.v.heljestrand frame back. the spine is a removable brass tube.would it be vise to tape the spine when honing this? i m thinking the brass would wear faster then the steel.am i right or should i hone without tape? the blade is 5/8.
      regards Bjorge

Earlier, you posted about a gentleman you knew in college station area, that did honing on straights, I was actually in brenham, not college station when I took it to the shop.
If there was a place in C.S that would be closer, I'd be obliged for a name.

It was in downtown brenham actually. ... the gentleman had a little "botique" store that sells shaving supplies. He does honing, to help supplement sales. Said he shaves with a straight, and has lots of straights for sale.
If John is in Fort Worth, I'd gladly take it to him, if you say he's the guy.
The gentleman is only chewing 35 to hone it, and if John is as good as you say he is, I'd gladly take it to him.

I added a couple pictures of the razor and wonder due to its age of around 1865 if it would be worth restoring. I have no attachment to it. Just looking to save a little piece of history and hopefully getting some good shaves from it one day. Thank,

Greetings. Are you still doing work on razors? I have a couple of razors that need some work. One is a wedge that is in good shape but needs a little attention so it shaves well again. The other is a hollow grind that accidently got left in the shower and now has some rust on it and is about due for a sharpening.

You wrote a great little piece on my thread about my recent purchase (the imperial straight razor with figural scales). I wa s hoping you could enlighten me on what it means when a SR is "fully warranted"? I've been trying to find out but have gotten nowhere on my own.
