Hope so. IMV the blacker and thicker the sheen just means a good base of protection for all those years. I've cleaned up 5 other Old Types using the baking soda method. Works like a charm.
The seller cancelled the order, he also was unaware of the labelling. His choice, i had or have no hard feelings with this seller. I like his custom scales and would buy from him if a deal should develop.
I do too! The handle is pretty cool. Plus I can't see spending/buying another Stainless Steel razor right now.
Congrats! Its nice to have a birth year Gillette, unfortunately 1980 was the year I graduated high school.
I just found out that I have a Faena Mastic shaving soap in transit to me. This stuff is from Greece.
Naw, he offered to send it. But it was unhoned, i left him the choice, he cancelled. Fair enough. Im sure he thought it was a henckels, after all, somone went to great effort to imitate one.
This lot just cleared the auction count down timer. The box on the far right says Valet Auto Strop, but appears to be empty. Not sure who the manufacturer with it turned marks down, hoping I can use it shavette style without the comb. Anyone recognize this one? With "a" box, but don't know if correct one. It'll be my third SE of the type. My other two are 1912's; American & English. Here's what caught my attention Can't wait to see if the Stahly works. And some brushes.
That is a 1912. But the teeth cutouts are all even in height. Most of them, the outside cutouts are not as deep. The only 1912's i have like that are my British and Damaskeene. Could be a Gem Jr. Just a wild guess. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Agreed, appears to be an English 1912. The handle length threw me. The one I have here is quite short. Hollow, too. After reading the instructions on building a 1/2 DE blade holder from a pair of SE blades and epoxy I'll be ready next SEtember.
Even if the Stahly doesn't work, put the head on a DE handle and enjoy the shave. They are really nice shavers. Nice haul.
Late night shopping always seems to get the best of me. A month or so I had seen a cool knot/brush that @JR Reyes had, I thought the knot was a Game Changer? I had heard good things about the knot. JR schooled me on this new brush, something called a Tuxedo? I bought a Game Changer and since have searched for The Tuxedo. I found one last night, a gent out of Canada had the knot, I'm not handy with such things and saw he had a Brothers Bristle w/Tuxedo. Bam! I bought one.
