Stay positive. I'm going with rare mis-stamp, and that it is worth a fortune. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
A Double Ring sorta of out of the blue. Completely covered in very heavy patina. No idea regarding the serial number as the (novice) seller had not opened the razor. Based on the photo there are no bent teeth and no obvious cracked handle. It also has a well used blade in it so a great potential clue. I rolled the dice on this one because it's coming from the Boston metro area. I will open this package with much anticipation and excitement; but with bated breath.
Boston metro area? I'm from there! Which company did you order it from? (You can PM me the answer if you prefer).
Not a company on the bay. Was not listed as a DR. I kinda stumbled across it. I'm not saying I stole it. I just decided to take a chance.
No answers for you. This made me laugh though. I had a razor that was an Engles knock off, that was actually a pretty good shaver. @mrchick has it now. Hope this one is a good shaver as well.
All of that tarnish indicates to me that it should cleanup really nice. Looking forward to seeing it all cleaned up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hope so. IMV the blacker and thicker the sheen just means a good base of protection for all those years. I've cleaned up 5 other Old Types using the baking soda method. Works like a charm.
The seller cancelled the order, he also was unaware of the labelling. His choice, i had or have no hard feelings with this seller. I like his custom scales and would buy from him if a deal should develop.
I do too! The handle is pretty cool. Plus I can't see spending/buying another Stainless Steel razor right now.
Congrats! Its nice to have a birth year Gillette, unfortunately 1980 was the year I graduated high school.
I just found out that I have a Faena Mastic shaving soap in transit to me. This stuff is from Greece.
Naw, he offered to send it. But it was unhoned, i left him the choice, he cancelled. Fair enough. Im sure he thought it was a henckels, after all, somone went to great effort to imitate one.
