1. I ordered these late last week. RazoRock DE1, RazoRock Mission (head only) and Omega Synthetic brush

  2. I WANT ONE OF THOSE, VERY BADLY.
Lucky you, please allow us to live vicariously through your reviews.

  3. Just received my order from IB. RR BlackHawk with Kia Pink blades, and RR Santal Royale soap and AS. Razor looks perfect, soap and AS have more oud scent than sandalwood but I like that too. A little more woodsy, sweeter and stronger than the Figaro Monsieur.

  4. Threw a low bid on a triangle slot US Tech and got it for $7. It has some grime but minimal brassing and should clean up nicely.

  5. Posted a very short recap in today's SOTD. :)
  6. Not 100% sure why...but I decided that spending $10 on this micro "Laguiole" was what I wanted to do this gloomy Tuesday morning.
    Specs:
    "Walnut Wood Handle
256 Layer (1095/15N20) Steel Blade Oil Tempered to 58-60 MEASUREMENTS:
    BLADE LENGTH 1.6"
    HANDLE LENGTH 2.3"
    TOTAL LENGTH 3.9"
Handle material: Walnut Wood , Brass Bolster
Pattern: Wind & twist pattern, File-work
    Weight 25g"

So folded up it will be 2.3 inches long and if it cuts 'ok' it'll be fun enough to attach to my keychain as a somewhat different EDC knife.
I have rather low expectations about the quality but thought it looked good enough to at least take a gamble at it and for my cutting needs 'opening a box now and then and cutting off a piece of string' it might just do fine. If not it will be a christmas gift to some sucker :)

Seller is in Georgia so hopefully I'll see it next week.

My first almost 1/2 a hundred blade purchase.
At 35¢ per blade shipped I couldn't pass them up.

  12. That looks like one of those blades for medical use. Blade and scales are made from stainless steel so that they can be decontaminated/sterilised by autoclaving.

  13. I got this one yesterday for € 1,90. I like the handle - now I have to figure out how to remove the knot without damaging the wood

  14. I don't know. I haven't seen one of those yet. It should be here any day.
  15. From the photo the knot looks usable. I understand the "ICK" factor of vintage gear. Taking an old one out ? Nothing to it but to do it. Cut the bristles short and apply tools to the remaining material. Good luck and take care.
What knot will you use to replace?

  18. Yeah - the knot might be usable but I have enough boars already, and this one is shedding even when it's dry ;) I replaced brush knots before, so basically I know what to do - though those were resin handles rather than wood. My concern is that metal ring around the knot. Shall I take it out with the knot or leave it and place the new knot into it?

Haven't decided on a replacement knot yet - a nice silvertip, an Ubersoft ... so much to choose from
  19. Jayaruh #129 arrived today - accompanied by a matching razor stand:
