That looks like one of those blades for medical use. Blade and scales are made from stainless steel so that they can be decontaminated/sterilised by autoclaving.
I got this one yesterday for € 1,90. I like the handle - now I have to figure out how to remove the knot without damaging the wood
From the photo the knot looks usable. I understand the "ICK" factor of vintage gear. Taking an old one out ? Nothing to it but to do it. Cut the bristles short and apply tools to the remaining material. Good luck and take care. What knot will you use to replace?
Yeah - the knot might be usable but I have enough boars already, and this one is shedding even when it's dry I replaced brush knots before, so basically I know what to do - though those were resin handles rather than wood. My concern is that metal ring around the knot. Shall I take it out with the knot or leave it and place the new knot into it? Haven't decided on a replacement knot yet - a nice silvertip, an Ubersoft ... so much to choose from
That knot doesn't look too bad. You might want to give it a try before you change it. I have this one and it works pretty well.
"Broke down" and decided to help the UK economy by ordering one of these So soon it will be just like in this photo
Ordered some of the liquidated stock of Passiflora. Couldn't beat a B&M soap for 12 bucks and it'll never be made again.
Soap from Route 66, Mickey Lee, and Stirling Cream from TOBS Brush from Doug Korn Vintage Kent V30 Voskhod blades (100 for $8, thought was a good deal so grabbed them)
Are those spinners addicting? I may have to try and make one. Do they use ceramic bearings in them? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Oh they are very addictive 1) This Spin-thread over on TSR will give you a lot of information. Some spinners featured in that thread ranging from a few dollars to several hundred. 2) Northam Saint over there is showing his progress in making his own - some even made with duct tape, 3) If I had the ability to machine some of these I'd be in business right away - these things make hotcakes sell at a snail pace in comparison Cierrecart over on Instagram doesn't have a CNC machine but a lathe. He's a stay-at-home-dad that makes some when he has the time. He puts them up for sale for about $70-80 and they sell out w/in seconds. Some he auction away and they can go for up to $2-300. He's in SoCal. 4) This video is an interesting introduction to why certain spinner are of a certain design (center of mass, etc) and the difference in bearings; 5) Join us on the Spin thread. I'd love to see a spinning bunny
I'm thinking of ordering one. I'm quitting smoking and need a distraction. lol I'm only 1.5 days in.. and I'm jonesing for one !
