The one other piece of advice I would give: Stick to your current razor for at least a month. Once you get your technique down, you will be able to get any razor and shave well with it. I wasted lots of money in my early days getting all kinds razors. Often I was disappointed by the razor, but in reality it was my skill that was the problem.

It should be fun. My son is disappointed that he isn't coming, but he is just a bit too young. I will have to take home next time.

I am definitely sticking to this one till I get it down solid then I will branch out to others. I think the only change I am going to make is switch from arko stick to Stirling soap “wife isn’t to fond of the arko stick scent lol”. But until it is down everything else will be the same.

Stirling and Arko lather a bit different for me, so take that into consideration. Minimizing the variables helps build your technique,

Opps, slipped off Focus, Blame the USPS for delivering my Futur clone two days early. Great lather from the lanolin enriched Route 66 soap. Perfect function out of the synthetic knot and ceramic bowl. I dropped a fresh blade in the new toy and started at setting .5. WTG didn't catch much so I relathered and bumped to 1.5. ATG still left a good deal of stubble. Upped the adjuster to 3.5 and took my XTG pass. Just about then I got a"Can you come to my jobsite and fix this right now?" phone call. Aborted the not quite SAS shave after a silent alum swipe, no burn AS splash. I did take this moment to post as I'll end up in the dark outside anyways.
