Thank you Doug. I am looking forward to lunch with Maya. We'll all be back home in time for the Georgia Florida football game later this afternoon.
Great photo of some top notch gear, Clint. Sounds like you are off to the start of a great weekend. I am a sucker for those little wooden shave soap bowls. That looks like a particularly nice one.
SOTD October 28, 2017 Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Schick Razor: Schick G1 injector Brush: Omega synthetic Lather: Arko shave stick Post: Witch hazel, Barbasol Brisk aftershave WTG, touch up Shave stick focus is winding down as the month does. Today's shave was terrific. This was a real budget setup! The soap and aftershave cost about $3 total. Thank you to @RyX for enabling me with some Barbasol Brisk! The Omega brush is likely inexpensive (I got it in a PIF) and you can get Schick injectors for pretty cheap as well (mine was also a PIF from @clint64). So my whole setup is really inexpensive. Goes to show that you don't require expensive tools and software to achieve a great shave. Technique trumps tool all day long. I can easily see how @Bama Samurai is getting so many shaves in his Arko challenge thread. I used a spare amount of Arko and got tons of lather. It was flowing through the bottom of the brush and slinging all over the sink. An Arko stick has to be the best value in wet shaving. The shave was a good one and I'm feeling accomplished by getting consistent and really top-notch lathers from shave sticks. I find them to be a positive way to use soap now whereas before I shied away from them. Another focus and another win! Have a great weekend, everyone!
OCtober 28 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Glastonbury 1936 Gillette Aristocrat Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Glastonbury AS It's a big day around here today. My dad and I are heading to game 4 of the series. I pulled out a favorite scent to go with the day. Two passes for a DFS topped off with the Glastonbury AS, and I am ready for a game. I hope everyone has a great day and go Dodgers!
O god. I may be in some trouble lol. I think I’ve been bitten by the bug. And it hasn’t even been a week since I’ve started.
Thank you Charlie. Maya and I had a great lunch together. I am back before the UGA game and she is working on homework. Thank you Jason. After the week I had, I need a good weekend. My wife gave me the bowl with AOS sandalwood soap. I like the bowl better than the soap. However I appreciate all the shaving gifts she gives me. Much better to have her supporting one of my hobbies. Thank you Perry. We had a great time. Mom was off the road by the time Maya came along. She did travel about 60% of the time for the older daughter, Asha.
Great B&W photo Perry. I never would have guessed a simple Schick PIF would have you give up DE razors. Funny how things work out. Sounds like a wonderful day with your Dad. Have a great time.
The one other piece of advice I would give: Stick to your current razor for at least a month. Once you get your technique down, you will be able to get any razor and shave well with it. I wasted lots of money in my early days getting all kinds razors. Often I was disappointed by the razor, but in reality it was my skill that was the problem.
It should be fun. My son is disappointed that he isn't coming, but he is just a bit too young. I will have to take home next time.
