Thanks Andrew. I fell for the handle. I think RV called it a "stubby." Blue is my favorite color, but I didn't know anything about Shavemac knots when I got it. This one has super soft tips and a ton of backbone. I haven't used it in a long time. It will be interesting to compare it to the Chubby 2.
April Focus - Stirling and an Adjustable, kind of Stirling Piacenza soap sample Vulfix 2235S Super Badger Suribachi bowl & cool water Lutz Slant, Kai blade (4th use) Dana English Leather AS Pulled the Piacenza by Stirling and checked for an appropriate post shave product. Both it and English Leather share a citrus top note. The soap list Amber and it's in the neighborhood with woodiness of the AS. Grabbed up the badger to see how well it works with a soft soap. With a 23mm X 52mm knot it's a little floppy but I've learned to deal. Lather happened in the ceramic bowl. Moved the Kai blade to the 1930's German 3 piece Slant and again contemplated it's Adjustability. There's supposed to be a mild/aggressive choice between the two sides of the base plate. I can't say I've determined which is which but it gives good close shave. Did a WTG on one side, relathered and a ATG with the other. Good beard reduction! Another lathering, and XTG & touch-ups using either side randomly. Feels the same on both sides to me. Got a nice error free DFS or better. Splash and another of the AS and my face feel great! Good Shaves Y'all!
Sunday shave Another cold day and yesterdays hot lather was so enjoyable I decided to another hot lather shave today. The Herr Razor has an extreme smile, which looks cool but shaves a little different from my other straights. I was just a small cut away from an epic shave, there was also just a tingle from the alum. I may do a mini focus for this razor, but it takes longer to shave with than my other straights so it is limited to weekends. Tomorrow I will return to my focus of finishing off my puck Tabac. Irritation A Closeness A+ Smoothness A Sharpness A+ Razor: Herr Razors extreme smile Strop: Mastro Livi Brush: Kent BK8 Pre: Proraso Soap: Queen Charlotte AS: Enhanced Alt Insbruick AS, Edsin Jagger ASB Scent: Tabac
Jason, your HM Badger brush with the Cypress handle is one of my favorites, and the tobacco/citrus scent of the soap sounds like a winner to me. Another great old school SOTD photo!
Thank you Charlie, and welcome back to The 30 Day Crew! That DE was available on the bay in NOS condition and IOB. Someone must have come across a warehouse full of them and they moved em out cheap. The handle is a bit short for my large hands but not unmanageable. There's a comprehensive review HERE.
Gillette Slim, finest Russian Steel, Arko soap, and an Omega boar brush...that's a grade A set up if there ever was one! I'm encouraging one of my buddies to jump into traditional shaving, and I hope to get him fixed up with a similar set up. Congrats on a Big Monday! I hope the rest of the week is just as strong. And a huge congrats on the successful relocation and the new shave den!
Rockwell 6c (3) Rapira Swedish Supersteel Fendrihan Synthetic B&M Taiga Thayer's Medicated Witchhazel Speick AS Splash Proraso Blue AS Balm Another great BBS shave with the Rockwell 6c. Really, beginning to love this razor with the Rapira Swedish. Whipped up a great lather with Taiga, man I love the smell of that stuff, so sad they discontinued the line. Going to have a soap which smells similar to replace. Ordered the razor from Krave, so am excited for it to arrive. This month may morph into a focus on these two razors. Want to experiment with some new sets up with the 6c but the current is working so great, might have to stick with it for a few more days. Have nice morning gentlemen. You dialed in the 6c quick! Congratulations on the new razor! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk

Ever Ready 1912 (Made in England) - Day 3 Blade - GEM Stainless (2) Brush - Bluebeards Doubloon Lather - Proraso White Post - Witch Hazel & Arko Natural Cream Another greatly improved shave. Not a weeper in sight! I can see why so many people rave about these razors! It seems to tug less than a DE to my mind (but I've only used Astra SP blades)
I started with a GSB in the 6c, I was not used to the added weight and gave myself one hell of a razor burn. I then tried a Vokshod, a blade I absolutely love in the 6c. The shaves were near perfect except the blade felt incredibly harsh on the face, but no razor burn or irritation post shave. I then decided to try my favorite blade the Rapira Swedish, and wham damn near perfect shaves. I still have a bunch of plate settings to try, so far the 6c is great razor, with the right blade shaves smooth as butter, and I've BBS shaves almost every time I've used it, with the 3 plate. I would recommend highly, I might even, buy a 2c in Gunmetal, just for travel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Watch out! You might end up like me and use injectors and SE razors only! I haven’t used a DE in almost two years.
I was hoping to keep to the 1912 with GEM stainless blades, buy a nice scuttle (the Old Foley type) and a good board brush and stick at it. I'm looking to shave simple and budget style! Of course I'll need spare 1912s in case anything happens!
