Another day of edge testing. Right side with the GD66 left with the Shumate. Both were very nice, able to wipe away the lather and whiskers without hesitation. I think in a general sense that I would like my edges to be a bit crisper. I don't know if this means I should spend more time on the finishing stones or more time in the lower grits. Did my first full WTG pass with the straights and saw no blood. Then I did a clean up pass with the Woody which proved to be a very exceptional blade holder. I was surprised that the optional angle was a little bit off the "clip". Have a great day my friends!

June Focus

A recently neglected soap in my den is MWF. This soap is a product of full-blown molestation.

Some of MWF qualities are unbeatable, even with today's terrific offerings.
Glide. I can only think of a few soaps that provide the same slickness. Mystic Water is one of them.
Protection. There is a real barrier between the blade and your skin.
If your technique is at all developed, it's tough to get a weeper or a nick.
Post-shave. Again, Mystic Water is a rival, and MWF leaves a wonderful, slick (but NOT greasy) feeling.
My skin always feels nourished afterwards.
Wow, was this puck dry this morning. I put about a Tbsp. of H2O on the puck before showering and it was totally absorbed by the time I went to shave. I added a bit more and with my fully-hydrated Mondial boar, I went to the puck. Now, I don't mind really "digging in" with a boar brush. They are inexpensive and quite frankly, I want to get as much MWF onto the bristles as I can. And I did!
I created oodles of lather in my Aesop bowl, but seeing as the lather was a bit airy, I continued with face-lathering.
Here is an interesting phenomenon, that I wonder if any of you MWF aficionados, have also experienced?
If I take my palm and rub the lather into my beard area, the soap tightens up considerably.
This is when I really get that great protection and slickness. It's almost as if I am pressing the air bubbles out of the lather. The result is much more dense. When I read users of MWF complaining about disappearing lather, I think this technique might just help them.
Perma-Sharp blades are quite smooth and comfortable. After using my Old Type and New's, the Red Tip is like driving a tank.

Buffing abounded and the Floïd Blue always is a magnificent finish.​

Great picture, Joseph. Interesting comments on the Fat. I haven't used it in several months, as my puck ran out and I haven't yet replaced it. I used to have the disappearing lather for a while with it, but never tried applying it with my hand. I found that it took a little longer to work than some other soaps and a very slow addition of water. If I did that, it came out nice and slick and would hold up to any soap I have used.
