Any chance you're joining us for Cinco de Julio?

  1. Of course. In fact, I save my popsicle sticks for just this occasion!

Close your eyes. Did she smell nice?

True story. Kinda NSFW, but I will keep it clean. So there is this pretty big four day music festival/camp out that goes on up here every year. Always chock full of out of date B bands, spiced up with one good, mostly out of date A band headliner each night. I don’t mean to disparage, we have had ZZ Top, Boston, Johnny Lang, 38 Special..... State Fair kind of stuff. You get the idea.

So they do a sort of Fat Tuesday/Mardis Gras thing at the campground, and as people get drunker, beads are passed out for all the normal reasons beads usually get handed out at these sort of occasions.

A younger guy that worked for me was there with his 15 or 16 y.o. Brother. So as one would expect, the kid is in a candy store watching young ladies get adorned with beads, he and his brothers also handing them out.

This old biker couple is strolling by, and older brother tells younger brother to offer the old gal some beads, thinking everyone would have a good laugh over it. The old lady walks right up to him, and asks, “you wanna give me some beads, boy?” She lifts up her skirt, butt naked under it, pelvic thrusts what God gave her, full of piercings, two inches from his face, and says, “Don’t worry Kid. It ain’t dead, it just looks like it.”

@RyX @Bama Samurai - If this is a little too over the line, my feelings aren’t hurt if it needs to go.

Jared @PickledNorthern - for those that have attended such gatherings you hinted at enough to paint an accurate picture of how these events go down.
Since The 30 DC is trafficked by a mix of enthusiastic eccentric eclectics with (I assume) few pop-in Visitors I'll let you post stand. It reminds me of a few festivals I've attended.

I have always been curious how the Red Tip compared to other SS razors. Thanks for doing the test. Great picture as well.

I just bought a new tub of it. I’ll take the splash, but am more than happy to pay shipping.

Shave at the lake today. Nice 2 passer earlier today. Took the pic on the bottom shelf of a bbq gazebo I built a few weeks ago. My wife surprised me with a custom sign for it as a Father’s Day/ B Day gift. I like it.

Three weeks in on my Straight Razor Apprenticeship.

No bloody mishaps to speak of, but a careless blade touch will open things up. Felt like I did it, but it took a while to bleed. Closed up easily.

    Stropping is improving.

Moved up to 2 passes when I allow myself time. Continue to finish with other equipment.

Had plenty of time today, so I went for 3 passes. Not bad, but still not satisfied enough to bag the clean up.

Blade seems to glide more on subsequent passes. Alum talks, but doesn't scream.

Noticed my control razor is still very keen. The training workhorse, less so. Still smooth though.

Maybe I'll have this by fall. All good.

Great photo again! What are Mike High Nationals, Jim?
Love that brush, Clint! That razor is just a matter of time for me...
Awesome to get that razor rolling again, Adam.
Never seen blades like that before, Joseph. Twin Injectors, yes, but not twin DEs. Btw, Why do you soak a Synthetic? Another great write up, nonetheless.
Great photo and report, Jim. Sounds like you can’t go wrong with either razor.

Great looking shave Jason. Love the sign.

Thank you Jason. The Karve is really a great razor. Plus it is made in Canada which should make shipping much easier and cheaper.

Thanks Jason. I soak it because it's a habit. No real reason other than that.

To my nose the Atomic Age is a brighter, sweeter bay rum. The Boomtown is brighter and sweeter than Captain Smythe's Reserve.

The Mile High Nationals is an NHRA drag racing event. We lasted about 5 hours before we called it.

Thanks, Clint. I’m getting the Karve. It checks a lot of boxes for me, the fact that it is a quality product made in Canada is chief amongst them.
