That is a great story Charlie! I am sure that you are touched to know this young man as I am also sure that you made a positive impact on the time that he had to spend in the hospital. You are a great inspiration, Charlie!

Just terrific, Charlie! Thanks for sharing. I have a soft spot and debt for children's hospitals and their dedicated employees. Wilson was born 14 weeks premature and spent 123 days in the NICU at two hospitals, finishing his time at Children's of Alabama. They are incredible medical professionals. Wilson (and my wife and I) would not be where we are without people like that.

Day two already! Where do the days go?
Mystic Water in "Titanic" mode; together with the Thayer's and the DRH, both of which are sure to expire before the MW.
The Semogue Taj Mistura has probably 12-15 shaves so far. Similar to my former Mistura, the knot doesn't open up
as much as 100% Boars & Badgers, making for a scrubbier feel. I do enjoy the Semogue handle.
Loaded up a serious amount of goopy MW, which I then took directly to the face.
One advantage of Blooming, even a tiny amount, is that the soap hydrates quicker.
With MW, one must be careful not to add water too quickly, as the soap will self-destruct.
The Weishi is the razor that got me back to wet-shaving. It was a little squeaky today, so I gave it a good oiling afterward.
I will say that the feedback from this razor rivals anything else in my den. Yes, it's Zamak; so what?
I will say it again: It's the razor blade that shaves you NOT the razor.
That being said, the Personna 74 once again gave me a great shave.
Finished with the above pictured products and, on a whim, reached for my bottle of Aramis EdC.

@jtface, here's some information on the Gillette Fatboy (the 195) and the Slim. You've got some nice razors already, but if you run across either of these in an antique shop or an estate sale for a good price, don't pass them up. They're both iconic razors with great build quality, and you can always sell, trade, or PIF them later if you decide they're not for you. I know they were manufactured in great quantity, but I think they'll be harder to find in the coming years as people continue to rediscover the joy of traditional shaving with vintage razors and scoop them up on the secondary market.

I wonder if y'all are using the same product, and in the same manner.

I haven't tried Stirlings PSS. My experience has been with Proraso Green PSS. It's heavily mentholated, chock full of glycerin, and isn't a preshave oil.. Not a bar form, it's a glass jar of presoftened cream that smears easily. Using an almond sized or smaller dab I apply prior to covering with lather. There is added slickness I never felt with preshave oils. It's got me reading shave soap ingredients lists looking for glycerin. Depending on your opinion of eucalyptus it can also be used as a post shave balm.

The Weishi was patterned after the SS, so it HAS to be a great razor. I also enjoy the Aramis EdC. It's a great scent, and it reminds me of a dear uncle and my dear father-in-law. It's one of the few scents in my cologne collection.

Next up in the No repeat focus is the Arlington with this Stirling Splash sample. I just realized looking at the pic, that the razor, splash sample and vintage blades have all come from @Screwtape. 3 more days on the razor after today (for science!) and then this will make its way back to John.
Went with a full 3 pass shave this morning. After 2 days with this razor, I'd say the 3rd pass makes a big difference. I am basically smooth, and still irritation free. Nice way to start the day.
First use of this splash, and on first impression, I'm a solid 'meh' for scent.
Sadly, I spent an hour or so last night charting my hardware and software. With the addition of these samples from John, I think I can make it through the full month for razors, soaps/creams and post shave products. Looks like it will be a true No Repeat November. This is assuming I miss my usual one day on the weekend and take the same travel razor for my two day trip later next week. Sigh. I have a problem. At least not for brushes (yet).

Yes, we're using the same product, but Andrew lathers right on top of it and I choose to wash it off just prior to lathering. I have left it on and lathered on top of it before but prefer the way. Slightly different tactic, but certainly the same soap.

I have some of the Proraso preshave as well. I like it but prefer the Stirling soap.

Wonderful photo, Jason! I felt the same way about the scent of Bergamot Lavender - meh. I had a sample a while back. Not one I would purchase in a full bottle. I need to try some of those PAL injector blades some day. I've been scouting out vintage blades on the bay recently.
