  1. Can't say I'm surprised Luke. That's why I have more tubs of Stirling then anything else.
Mmmm, that reminds me of Saltgrass. Love that place!

  6. March Madness!!

    March 30

    Razor - '47 Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade - feather-yellow-box.jpg (1)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip
    Post - Alum

Two shaves left in March Madness and this month seems to have disappeared without a trace! Well, ok, so over 7000 traces around here but you know what I mean. After a few trips into the world of madness, I return to Mild March Madness to finish it off. I'll use the Aristocrat for the final two shaves with a Feather on board. A month without Russians deserves to end on the Yakuza entry to the Cartel. The Fat for the lather with the Wolf and it should be an epic shave. I'm not sure if I'll stick with the setup for tomorrow or switch soap and brush but I can say that a very relaxing three pass shave with this setup is a fine way to end a day. Especially a cold, rainy, boring day that did nothing to dissuade me from my opinion that my pending career move is not only for the best, but probably necessary for my sanity. I already knew that....just nice to get confirmation. Anyway, three passes to the baby on board and quiet alum and all's well in flood land. Yeah - with the snow pack up north and all the rain we've had lately - they've closed the flood gate on St. Louis and it's definitely flood season. Unlike two years ago, though, we're well away from the rivers here so I'll just admire the high water marks as I drive by.

Have a fantastic Sunday and place your bets on Duke/Michigan State tomorrow afternoon. THAT should be some madness right there!

  18. Saturday night March 30 - Rule shave #17

Delta Echo refurbished Gillette Fatboy on 4 / Rapira Swedish Supersteel (2)
Simpsons CH2 Chubby Synthetic Bristles brush
    MWF/Kent in beechwood tub
Alum and Polar Ice Booster splash

Cold water shave tonight for a change. Made no difference to the lather or to the shave. Both still good.

I have been making less mess while swirling the brush in the tub and thought it was because I was learning to be neater . However tonight I realised it was because the tub has about twice as much freeboard now -- the Soap Destroyer has diminished the thickness of the puck by about a third. The wear is so even though that the top of the puck is still virtually flat, so I hadn't noticed the change. At this rate, about three months of regular use would kill off this soap. Hmm.....

  19. Great shave, Jim. Your FB is an excellent example, and it will provide you with a lifetime of wonderful shaves. I'm glad you got the "didn't have the blade properly locked down" shave with your vintage Gillette out of the way. We've all had one or two of those. The doors on one of my Gillettes tend to loosen up during the shave, so I'm constantly checking to make sure they're closed.

  20. The Conrad is a beauty, Terry. Very nice! Have you settled in on two blades per shave, or are you still experimenting?

I'm rockin' a Feather blade in my Weber DE this week. Feathers were my 'one and only' blades for a while. Great blades!
