  3. I've been eyeing one of theirs. It's described as pig lard based and smelling of;

    smokey sandalwood, cinnamon, cardamon, pink pepper, light florals, tobacco, cardamom, vanilla, musk and amber

    Then they list the notes as;

    Pink pepper , pink grapefruit, tangerine, lavender, cinnamon, pink rose, myrrh, black currant, sandalwood, Haitian vetiver, amber, patchouli, musk and vanilla.

    Giving two descriptions doesn't stop me from being curious. Just a little confused.

  5. I've been looking at that one myself. The pig lard base is an excellent performer.

  6. It was supposed to be Williams tonight, until the Tabac aftershave showed up. I had to try them together.
    Another smooth shave from a nice face lather. Not sure if it's the soap or if I cooked it up thick, but it was plugging up between blade and head, and was resistant to rinsing off. And the aftershave is outstanding, definitely a new favorite. Blood under my big Italian nose, but its tricky. I was going left to right and caught a snag I guess. Happy shaving gents [IMG]

  7. Why? That was a great price. That’s some impressive restraint you showed.

    :(

    You will be with us in spirit. I’ll buy a troll and sit him at the table. Enjoy the birthday party.

    I’m also big fan of boars once they are broken in.

    I’m of the same opinion but I’m a bowl latherer. It’s a very good knot.

    Looks like a wonderful family outing. Enjoy!

  12. Yes, agree. Not a fan of shaving irritation. Went looking for alternative shaving options in late '18 cause I was entirely tired of cartridge pricing. It's all I've ever known. We've evolved to 4 people shaving in our family...it freaking adds up! Had already tried the electric options (twice!), and the second $$$ option (highly reviewed) worked, but still burned/irritated to get a close shave, even in the shower with soap. So...when I found that DE shaving (and SE/shavette/SR) could help, be less dollars tossed, and comes with nearly infinite shiny tools and accessories to pick from and use....I was hook, line and sinker 'in it for the long haul'.

    So....I'm a probie who actually goes on searching expeditions before asking. What is SAS in reference to describing a shave? I didn't find that acronym here: https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/acronyms-abbreviations.22209/
  13. SAS=Socially Acceptable Shave

    Not sure where it falls in the pecking order in comparison to CCS.

  14. Could call him by his "real" name - Alex. ;)
    Joseph @Primotenore noted this effect recently. If the Tabac lather is difficult to rinse out of shave gear, it's needs more hydration. That's a triple milled, very dense soap that can hold lots of water. Next time consider experimenting with a bowl. Keep adding water until it gets too sloppy to cling to your face - that's just a little too wet. It rinses of real easy when you get there.
    I enjoy breaking in a new boar brush. Maybe I could start a brush breaking in service! :cool:
    That's what we all used to get with cartridge razors - a Socially Acceptable Shave. It look like you tried, even if it doesn't feel as good as you're used to now.
  15. Thank you sir, I'll try more water next shave
  16. All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go...
