  4. He makes some beautiful straights. I really like the "Granite & Fire". The tail is super cool. The fact that he throws in lifetime honing (you pay shipping) is a bonus. Quite a talented artisan.

  5. Gary, I’ve discovered that the key to acquiring new kit is through barter and not fund disbursements. My den has not grown significantly, and I’ve got some cool new kit to play with.

  6. Wow! That is indeed an epic vintage shave. Nice one, Joseph!

  7. You have quite a few of his products! My apologies...I thought you were new to his stuff. I don't know if you saw, but Jason and I were discussing it yesterday - he's moving most of his line over to Declaration Grooming going forward. Did you get to try the Unconditional Surrender yet?

  8. Thank you Joe. I had saw it used on by some of the folks on a UK shave forum so I asked for a review. Based on the response I decided to give it a try.

  9. Exceptional shave, Gary! I love how the sunlight highlights all of the gear, especially the translucent lucite. Well done! :happy088:
  10. I agree, but all my safety razors need to handle both head and face with equal capability. The Big Fellow doe so in spades!

  12. Thanks, Clint!
Gotcha! The choices have become daunting over the last several years. It's kinda funny how many folks have to chase the latest and greatest every time Ruds gives a new soap a 100 or 101 (not knocking Ruds). It's almost as if all the other soap bases that were great a year ago somehow suck now, if you go by what others say in various forums (not so much on TSD, of course). It's a very fickle community.

Quite funny about the constant sniffing of the soap, by the way. You showed restraint waiting this long.

  15. I have found out that leaving it on my home office desk gets my wife accustomed to seeing the soap. When the soap appears in the photo or on my vanity she thinks its something I already had. :D

  16. Nice photo and shave, Bruce. I like the B&W.

  17. Nice shave, Bruce! Never go wrong with a Blackbird shave! A couple of us ordered the new Blackland Tradere back in May! Aaaannny day now!
  18. :happy088:
I think that thought line has been guiding my recent preferences too. Granted, I only switch to traditional wet shaving 3 years ago, but I think I am now narrowing my inclinations.

  20. Well played, sir. Well played.

    Thank you, Andrew!

Thank you, Jeff! The Blackbird is probably my fav to use. I came very close to preordering the Tradere. I spoke with Shane, and he talked me into the Blackbird instead.

Indeed...and then some. Time to pick another blade from the sampler...
