  1. When I commented on your initial response, I thought you were making fun at yourself Blair. Please accept my apology because it was not my intent to get you ticked.

  7. I'm glad you didn't go back and read my amended post. I've been doing 20 clockwise and counterclockwise followed by 20 pull strokes just like on a strop, all done under water. Ben claims it's his discovery, but I'm sure with all the honers out there that someone discovered it long before he did. Then 10 on the pasted strop and 10 on the regular. Ben's mentor claims he never strops. In between the circular and pull strokes, I gently pull the blade horizontally once per side, which Ben claims removes the burr. He does the same routine on his 30K Shapton. Right now he's waiting for some ridiculously expensive jnats to arrive. It's been over a month. I don't understand why he keeps buying more stones. I'm very pleased that my two stone regimen works so well. Is there such a thing as SAD (Stone Acquisition Disorder). If so, my boy has it bad!

  10. Yes I know, and thanks. I'll pull out a Gillette Mach 3 sometime this week for its trial run. Maybe that can help me "cut down on the cuts"(I can't believe I said that!!).
  11. Still too busy to post much or keep up with the thread. Wanted you all to know I will still participate in Stirling SEptember. I've got lots of injectors and SE razors to cycle through along with a month of luscious Stirling lather. It will be great.

Today's shave was Stirling Gentleman soap, Schick M adjustable, synthetic brush, and Soap Commander Justice aftershave. Wonderful Tobacco Tuesday edition.

@Primotenore mentioned in the opening about our background with getting involved in the 30DC. I can't remember the exact origins, but I got a DE razor for Christmas in 2015. I had already joined TSD in anticipation of getting some shaving stuff at Christmas. I joined the 30DC in January 2016 if my memory serves right. I wanted to focus on getting better at technique and this seemed to be the place for that. Later that month @clint64 PIFed me a Schick G1 and my love affair with SE razors started.

I've thoroughly enjoyed this group and the knowledge and camaraderie. Hopefully things will slow down and settle out soon and I'll be back in more consistent fashion.

Well, I am in for September as well. Since I don't own any SE's aside from my straights,
they will be the razors of choice.
Had a little extra time this morning, I decided to refresh this razor.
I used my Naniwa 12k and Shapton 16K Glass.
I was a little out of practice honing, but it seemed to come back to me quickly.
Through the lupe, the edge looked pretty good...for my skill level.
I am more than skilled in creating a luscious lather and the I Coloniali seemed a good choice.
As many of you know, this soap is ROCK HARD, THE hardest soap in my den...
which calls for a good bloom. :happy088:
Not a dousing, but a shallow covering of the surface with some water,
allowing the soap to soften while showering.
The boar bristles of the Rubberset dig in nicely and gather plenty of soap with which to lather.
Disappointing that the photo doesn't represent how nice 'n shiny the lather was.

The passes with the straight were efficient and smooth.
Cleaned up the 24-hour stubble nicely. No blood-letting of any sort.
Finished the first shave of the month with the I Coloniali Emulsion,
which has the same wonderful scent as the soap. It leaves the face nourished, but never greasy.
I'll start my somewhat confusing (to me, anyway) relationship with this thread.
After joining TSD back in March of 2014, I was still a :whacky024: when it came to wet-shaving.
I posted here and there, but mos def© not on the 30DC thread. Not sure why:signs002:
Then after a few months I took a...maybe two-year hiatus and spent 100% of my time over at TSN.
    :scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003::scared003:
The more experienced I became, the more I was sensitive to internet bullying and
sycophant behavior on the shave fora. It bugged me, especially because I refused to play along.
(BTW, I still do and have been excoriated just recently on that same forum and on DFS)
That's a story for another time...
So one day, I decided to check out...again, TSD and have made it my home ever since.
It was shortly thereafter I started posting on this thread. What I discovered,
as most of us already know, is that here is a thread with real people, real love of our hobby,
without "agendas", and, to steal a phrase, "The salt of the earth".
It's here I feel accepted, unconditionally, except for perhaps of my affinity towards verbosity and The VEG. ;)
...and Tabac...and vintage Williams...and my disdain for Arko...:p
So here I am for the foreseeable future. You are all stuck with Primo.

    Good morning!

Spectacular Stirling SEptember shave to start the month! Three passes for near BBS. Nearly silent alum.

I joined TSD specifically for the 30DC thread in March of 2018. I had already accumulated a few razors and brushes but I needed to learn to use them. A couple of Rules and Focuses with lots of encouragement and guidance really started me down the path of great shaves. I'm so glad to be a part of the Crew.

    Have a great day!

  20. Great shave, my friend! I don't own a MMBT, but do own a ClogPruf (MMCP), its predecessor, and have never failed to get a great shave out of it. Enjoy your day and stay safe and healthy! Wear that mask and watch out for maskne, I'm told it's an acne skin condition from wearing a mask all day.
