This is the thread I'm looking for. I recently purchased a very old shave brush online and the only markings on it are Simms in small cursive script. Ideally I'd like to take it apart clean up the wood and repaint it also put a new knot in it but I have no clue how to start. It seems like the handle itself is attached to the mid piece that holds the knot itself. I assume I start by disassembling the brush into it's 3 separate components right?

This thread is for artisans making new brushes. There are several threads that discuss restorations. I think the resident expert is @Enrico. https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/my-brush-repairs-restorations-builds.55143/page-28

Not a problem at all. :) It's more a matter of getting the question in front of the right people. We're far less experienced with restorations. :) I really screwed up the only one I've tried.

I need a 9nien9 brush and would be willing to trade a MrEE anodized aluminum brush to make it worth your time!

For the 2 resin brushes I made I poured the resin into 1 time use 3D printed molds printed using "spiral vase mode". I suppose it's harder to pour a marbled blank but it makes a round blank.

    I've pored 7 blanks and made 2 brushes... so I think I understand. :D
