https://www.ebay.com/itm/2757347382...1291&msclkid=ffe744a7512c1a866d0121e680a69570 this came up when searching the "more for you" shaving soap... if they sell it, talk about a markup on a .99 cent soap
The good news is that they do make a stick. You just don't see it in these parts. https://www.kraftkagit.com.tr/detay/more-for-you-tiras-sabunu-silindir-75-gr-21.html The bad news, naturally, is that it has been reformulated. Used to be identical to Derby soap. Ditto for Shave Factory Soap. Derby soap went away altogether. My guess is that all were made by some third party that is no more. To be fair, I have not tried the new formula. Could be the exception to the rule. Or not. Maybe I will give it a try someday. But for once I noticed the change in time to load up on all three in the old formula, so I'm set for many many moons. theshavefactory.com still lists the old ingredients, for now at least.
I bought of bunch from this guy about 2 months ago. (More for You, not Williams.) He still had the old formula at the time. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174917939730
I store my kilos's of Cella and Vito's Red in the fridge, cut off a piece as needed, both last for years. I'm on my fourth kilo of Cella and second of Vito's
I have a few Unused Derby sticks from a 12 count I purchased a few years ago. While I’ve read plenty of posts that Derby performs very similar to Arko. I was surprised to find out how hard the soap is. I figure that I get around 150 to 165 shaves out of an Arko stick. I kind of wonder how many I’d get out of Derby stick. The Derby is currently in my dopp bag for travel. But plan on putting it back in my rotation when I finish up one of the shave sticks that I’m using in my rotation now. (La Toja & Speick)
but how much lather do you rinse down the drain after the shave? Are you planning on scraping the lather off the razor and the brush into a mug to let it dry out and re use it during the next shave? Youd stretch your shave count exponentially.. i do a shave every 2nd or 3rd day. SOMETIMES ill go 4 or 5 days depending on my hands.. and i have managed to have half a tub of stirling unscented tallow with bees wax last me 9 months.
Arko is cheap, but will all require you to spend money on a post shave, whereas as a decent artisan means you can cut post out entirely... Though I doubt that will be enough to entirely nullify the extra cost considering how inexpensive some effective post products are, but it should be considered if money is a concern. That said, I'd wager most of you are like me and will use a post whether you need to or not. Arko used to be the unchallenged pure value play, and while it remains a solid optio, it's getting harder to find for less than $2.50 in many places. At that point you might as well buy the 3 "what the puck" pucks as a set for $8.99. That's, like, 11 ounces of soap in 3 different scents for $9 bucks...which is about 15% less expensive than Arko at $2.50/stick and you're not locked in to a single scent that many don't like.
Palmolive and Nivea shave sticks are actually good quality for the money, I'd say razorock too but the lather is not real thick even if you load it like crazy. Sent from my T601DL using Tapatalk
I would have said Sterling but they said budget, so in my mind I'm thinking about anything under like $12 Sent from my T601DL using Tapatalk
$12 is a bargain nowadays. Stirling sample sizes allow you to stay within a budget. Sent from my SM-A526U using Tapatalk
Just used my La Toja stick while traveling the past two days. There’s a great one to consider. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Italian barber = Razorock is another good source of artisan soap at very reasonable prices. Buy their sales like the one that is one now (24hr sale).
