  1. It just depends on how much soap I can load onto my brush for me to get a great shave. That's why it's a tough dcision for me.

  3. Thanks guys. Life definitely does tend to happen all at once, but I think that’s God‘s way of refining us to be better people if we let him.

Anyway, my current 3017 is a tub of TOBS Germaine St. TOBS was my first quality cream before launching an excursion to try virtually every soap under the sun. After revisiting it for a week or so, I’m reminded that it is still among my favorites.

Some tough days at Casa Spartan. I’ve had quite a flu starting Sunday. In and out of work over the past few days. Better now, but MrsSpartan is now ill.
Anyway, I’ve shaved most days still, finishing off a great run with the Karve and having two decent shaves with this Single Ring, the oldest razor in the den.
The lather of the Jeeves continues to be exceptional every day. Losing my ability to smell the past few days hasn’t changed that.

  5. A belated congratulations, Maestro.
  6. Good to hear from you, Randy. I believe it was Adam/ Drygulch that arranged for this LE soap with Bryon at Jeeves. A fantastic lather, no question.
The Shavey Awards! A highlight of those days for sure.
  7. I am sorry to hear you are both ill. I hope you guys feel better soon.

Happy Thursday aka "Friday Jr." Everyone! A change of hardware for the next few days. I decided to give the Ever-Ready 1912 a try. Honestly it was/is on the chopping block. I just don't use it enough. The next several days will help me decide to include it in the rotation more often or move it out of the den. Take care and have a great day.

    good morning gents
first shave of the year with a neglected shave set, waves.
this used to be tops for me ,but i have so much better..
or i can lather stuff better, either or.
finicky at first then i loaded it like "it owed me"to quote others,
maybe it needs daily use to come back..
finally a great lather but i had to get more from the puck each pass.
    maybe it's too old..
smooth 2 passer with the parat,
    matching splash to finish
will give this set a few shaves in succession to see if it comes back.
or should i try a 3017 with it;)
mwf is like that if i remember correctly
will try a 3017 with it then:)
    awesome.
    have a fine day everyone

  11. I like Pour Un Homme, it reminds me a lot of A Taste of Heaven but at a more friendly price point. It is a nice non cloying lavender scent.
  12. Ah the legendary 2011 R41, my favorite DE. You have 'glamping' in the US? I thought that was a Korean thing.
  13. And my favorite SE razor :happy093:
  14. That brings back happy memories of the 30 Day crew and some of the crazy shaving stunts people would perform for our entertainment.
  15. I wish the Casa Spartan is free from flu in short order.
  16. The "Snake" is one of my favorites as well.
  17. i also have Barrister Reserve Classic shave set, dupe of the Sun Up Gillette set from the late 60's.Needs to go as well.will include this in my 3017 with Gold gillette razors..:).i have no intentiom of replacing these sets.i have stopped smoking cigarettes for over a year now.quit cold turkey.i am sure i can do these 3017's ..please be patient..:)

I realized I hadn’t reached for this nimble Schick in quite some time. I prefer the heft of the modern Supply Injector, but the shave was fun, smooth and efficient.
The focus is rolling along. Great lathers every day.

Thanks for all the well wishing posts- I’m doing better, but MrsSpartan is a day or so behind me in getting over the bug.
  19. Castle Forbes Finished :sick013:. Great stuff and I like their lime scent the best out of their line up.

Hart Steel 7/8, Pladin brush and MDCI Invasion Barbare were not enough to send the CF off...

So I went with one of my favorite blades, a fancy looking Dorko 7/8 with it's almost matching Rooney brush. SMN Acqua di Cuba for when I want a leather and cigar scent that's works in warm weather. CF is great stuff and I was adding liquid lanolin that pushed over the top.

May 6 I will head to Phuket for some R&R, until then I will rotate through some soaps to select the next 3017 victim.

  20. Congrats, Keith. Agreed, the CF Limes is a great product. Great straight up Lime scent and a slick, slick lather.
    A repurchase at some point?
