Over the Christmas holiday i was at a high end bar and had a coctail called a Paper Plane. Then, on New Years eve, I threw a party where I made a variation of that drink that I liked even better, and proved to be a big hit. 1.0 oz Burbon. 0.5 oz Campari 0.5 oz Punt E Mes 1 oz fresh lime juice I call it an Origami.
I won't be drinking it tonight because I don't have time to pick it up but I had a Hudson Whiskey Rye this past week in Woodstock, NY that blew me away. Unexpectedly it had a nice bit of sweetness that made drinking it with one rock easy and enjoyable. I'm not totally sure which of their Rye offerings it was but suspect it was the Do The Rye Thing version, although it could have been their Short Stack version which also seems to have a bit of sweetness to it. I guess I'll have to buy one of each and try them both to see which one I had tasted. It may replace my current favorite, Clyde May's Alabama Whiskey.
