What are your adjustable settings?

So I just acquired a Gillette I3 Slim Adjustable and it's my first adjustable razor. I'm not sure what settings to use, all I know is 1 is the mildest and 9 is the most aggressive.

My question for all of you is, what settings do you use? Do you have a more aggressive setting for the first pass and then change to milder ones for ATG, do you keep one setting the whole time? Do any of you have a set setting for each pass to get the most ideal shave?

    Thanks!

I use my slim on 8. It gives me almost 18hr BBS. My Progress is 3. If I go higher than 3, I bleed a lot.

I set mine to 6 for the first pass, 3 for the second pass.

I just went up one click each shave and settled on what worked best for me.

I had a torrid affair with a 60's Slim when I first rediscovered TWS....I started on #3 and as I consistantly got great shaves I moved up one number at a time til I just left it on #9...

Then I went back down until I could score a BBS on any number including #1.

That was the real score....it seems our natural defense mechanisms kick in and we adjust for each settings....Once you see the corrolation it really helps to understand shaving technique from the razor perspective. Then I concentrated more on prep and lather techniques.

So I found my time with the adjustable invaluble....I hope you dig yours as much as I dug mine...;)

I have had mine sitting on '8' for months without changing it up or down.

Most people seem to start with it on 3-4 and then adjust up- or down to find their own 'sweet spot'.

It depends on the Blade really. If I am using a Red it is at 9, If I am using a "Lab" It can be at 7 or 8. That might change however.

+1. My settings vary depending on the blade. Sometimes, when I'm feeling reckless, I crank it wide open when I know it's a mild blade.

Either I over worked my Mitchells last night or I need to dial down a little bit, no cuts but a weeper.
