I know the Cobra is an outstanding razor and I've been wanting one. Just as I was about to the pull the trigger on one I found out about the Mongoose. I put my name on the waiting list. hopefully I'll get one from the second batch. If not I may just get the Cobra. Does anybody know what the main differences between the two are? Which is the better razor?
I own 2 Cobras and am on the waiting list for the Mongoose. My advise is to buy the Mongoose. They will be available in 2 weeks or so. The guys making it seem reliable and I am sure they will be ready for sale soon. Whereas, The Cobra people keep promising a sale date then pushing it off. The Mongoose is getting great reviews. I think at worse they are equal shaves. If you are not pleased with the Mongoose it should prove to be an easy sell
The main differences right now are the price, inventory, and material. The goose is a Stainless razor, and Im pretty sure the cobra isnt. Like Barrylu said, I would get the goose now, because the price will be going up after batch 2. You can get your money back if you dont like it by selling to someone who missed out on the second batch. Im going with the head only option, because I want to use my own handles. I hear it will be an October release date, so it should only be a few weeks before the Goose is loose...
Isn't batch 2 supposed to have a knurled handle too? Is the waiting list closed for batch 2? I see nothing but great reviews on this razor so I'm wanting one.
I just got added to the waiting list for the mongoose. They also told me there will likely be a knurled handle option this batch.
I believe the head is $120 but do check with them if there has been any change in price. The last I heard from them read: "We will be doing a head-only option for Batch 2 - we haven't finalized the price, but it will probably be around $120, shipped in the US." Head only option will be $119 shipped CONUS. I was told an October release, could be early or mid month not sure. But if you made the list, you will be sent an email and directions to finalize purchase. I heard that Bullgoose will be carring the Mongoose from batch 2 and on. He mentioned an increase for shipping cost because the 1st and 2nd batches are introductory prices. Once I knew that, I got on the list ASAP. So far only positive reviews fron various owners.
Man that's a lot for just a head. I guess that is where all the work is done though but think I'm going to have to pass. I sold my cobra because I couldn't justify the price and I think the cobra looks cooler.
