What did we learn from our last shaves?

Awesome! A local supplier is a real treat!

 

I am falling off of the Green Mountain soap bandwagon.

 

I keep mine at the same length or shorter. Try unrefined shea butter some time. Best stuff.

 

That the combination of Arko and Pinaud Clubman creates the optimal barbershop scent....

 

I learned that it's really hard to shave another man's face!

 

This inspired me for this mornings shave.

 

That combination will be making an appearance in my rotation at least once a week.

 

Yet again reminded of what an amazing soap Arko is

 

Arko! Arko! Arko!

From my last shave I reinforced that shallow blade angles cut better for me.

 

I learned I don't care for Voskhod blades very much seem to tug more for me.

 

Blades are one of the ultimate YMMV items.

 

No shave today, but showered with Chinese sandalwood soap, Vitalis on the dome, Clubman on the face...

I like smelling like a barber's shop 24-7-365.

I learned unrefined shea butter can spoil. It went from yellow to white, isn't as creamy, and smells like strong pecans now.

 

Omega beats Semouge for lathering soaps and semogues are a better cream brush than omega.

 

I learned that cool water shaving with Proraso Green and Skin Bracer, followed by a dash into the 19f air outside, is indeed a life affirming experience.

 

I've had it since last winter. I bought the stuff direct from Amazon. I store it in a tupperware knockoff container I got at the dollarstore. It still works but it has a more pasty consistency and I don't like the smell of pecans.

 

To much variation gives very inconsistent shaves

 

That feather blades, although very good, do not provide a better shave nor does it last any longer than Astra SP's for me in my Merkur 34C. Also, at 2-3 times the cost will not pursue them further unless they perform drastically better in my Gillette's.

 

Today I learned...

I gotta work on left side face technique, left side is never as smooth as the right side. I work with my right hand and this is the root of the difference. It lies in the grip on the handle. I need to focus on keeping the blade angle and pressure consistent when working across my body.
