What did we learn from our last shaves?

I learned that I am sensitive to cinnamon EO, but not painfully so.

I was reminded that even a good electric shaver is the equivalent of a Hungry Man TV dinner (which I happen to enjoy): it's quick, no mess and gets the job done, but it ain't the ribeye, potato, salad and beer that is pretty much any DE, SE or injector's shave. If I could have one or the other every day, which would I prefer - steak or microwaved compartments? Same with shaving.

I tried some Musgo Real Glycerin Lime Oil (MR GLO) pre-shave soap today after a brief hiatus. I'm probably in the minority, but it irritates my skin. I will give a new bar I have (in addition to the one I'm using now) to a friend. Maybe it will work better for him! Anyone else with a similar experience?

I just recieved a L'Occitane Plisson brush, had my first shave with it today. What a difference a nice brush makes when building lather. :happy088:

ATG preshave irritates me. I've been using Proraso with good results.

You know... that is an awful good analogy. Steak and shaving. I am going to have to gratefully steal that! A good steak is just like a good shave. It is all about the details. The best steak is all about the right meat, good prep and solid technique.. or you can toss it on the grill and hope it works out in the end. I think I am going to hone this analogy as a way to help my non wet shaving friends understand how much better it is.

I'm learning that I may have to change my after routine to compensate for the effects of the cold on my skin. About 2 months ago I stopped using all after products to simplify things. Was going great, but this -25 weather is sucking the moisture out of my skin. May need to go back to a balm.

    From my last shave...

I really like Proraso Green. Very easy to work into lather.

I've learned that I am never as satisfied with a single edge razor as I'd like. My DEs always work better for me.

All you SE elitists may begin flaming

What I've learned since I've begun my wet shaving journey is this wonderful shaving community! It's more than posting a SOTD, showing what goodies you received, it's friendships, caring about the well being of other members as a part of your extended family.

From my last shave I learned...

At some point, menthol becomes a distraction...Yeti Snot is past that point.
