You know... that is an awful good analogy. Steak and shaving. I am going to have to gratefully steal that! A good steak is just like a good shave. It is all about the details. The best steak is all about the right meat, good prep and solid technique.. or you can toss it on the grill and hope it works out in the end. I think I am going to hone this analogy as a way to help my non wet shaving friends understand how much better it is.
I'm learning that I may have to change my after routine to compensate for the effects of the cold on my skin. About 2 months ago I stopped using all after products to simplify things. Was going great, but this -25 weather is sucking the moisture out of my skin. May need to go back to a balm.
I've learned that I am never as satisfied with a single edge razor as I'd like. My DEs always work better for me. All you SE elitists may begin flaming . . .. ... Now
What I've learned since I've begun my wet shaving journey is this wonderful shaving community! It's more than posting a SOTD, showing what goodies you received, it's friendships, caring about the well being of other members as a part of your extended family.
Agree! +1 From my last shave I learned... At some point, menthol becomes a distraction...Yeti Snot is past that point.
I can't shave with menthol soaps because they numb my face to the point I don't feel feedback from the blade and I don't know how much pressure I'm using. Now AFTER the shave, that's different. LOL.
I learned that I will NEVER travel again without a DE. Going back to carts for the past 4 days has to be like purgatory, better than the alternative but not really acceptable either.
