Jagger DE89 Derby Extra Blade Omega 10098 Brush Prorasco Pre-shave cream Proasco white tub cream witch hazel Nivea balm sensitive skin yup... i'm hooked... Short and sweet- I was focused on NOT using pressure- went WTG and XTG... when I was with my second pass on the neck, the XTG started going more ATG as I wasn't thinking it was "close." Result... some razor burn and a few nicks- nothing bad. I was honestly thinking even my face wasn't too close- but after applying the aftershave and all, I realized that in fact it was pretty darn good. It's not uncommon for me to get a little burn on the neck anyways at times in a spot or two, so all in all, not terrible. I'm sure most of it (burn) was due to technique, and that'll pass. I noticed I was applying more pressure there as well- in thinking my face shave wasn't that close at the time. Also, I'm thinking I could've worked up a better lather with the cream- it wasn't bad, but wasn't quite frothy either... on the second pass, I added a bit of water and saw an immediate difference in the lather- having a 'note to self' moment. All in all- feeling great right now and for the first go around- not too shabby. Thanks all for the suggestions, previous videos/posts/etc. Figure I'll shave once or two more times with the Derby blade, then switch up to something else to start some comparisons to find something to start that 30 day clock with.
Excellent! Come on over to daily the SOTD thread. Tons of fun, you'll meet new members and share what you've learned. Kerry
1. Good on yer! ... and Welcome! 2. My shiniest $0.02 for beginner's >here<. 3. Early on, I had a hard time believing the volume of posts that were about pairing a given blade to a given razor ... AND that a given pair could be perfect for one person and horrible for the next. <sigh> Believe it. But don't sweat it! You've stepped off the slippery slope, my friend, but it is a great ride all the way down! Glad to have you on board.
Welcome and glad you are liking it! Grab a blade sampler (see TSD shop), maybe do a thirty day rule, learn to master your DE89... Good luck!
Great setup for a beginner. That should do you well until other ADs set in. Do come over to the SOTD thread and join in.
