4 Day Growth Shave and sunburned face but managed to get face BBS without irritation or pain and 2 weepers. Neck = CCS with no weepers. I read that shaving with a sunburn is risky, but at 4 days growth, I needed to beat back the whiskers a bit. I was only gonna shave WTG and then XTG, but those shaves went so smooth that I felt I could shave ATG on my face. I didn't have any burning or irritation issues. If my face had been more red in the cheek areas like I am around eyes and forehead, then I'd have waited. The post shave with Thayers Witch Hazel and some Cocoa Butter lotion was very nice!! I only used a small amount of Stetson Original on my cheeks and neck. There wasn't any major stinging or burning.

    Pre: hot shower

Soap: TSD Frankincense & Myrrh (lanolin) - this stuff lathers great!

Razor: R89 with Gillette Silver Blue blade (x3 shave)

Post: Thayer's Lavender Witch Hazel, Vaseline Cocoa Butter lotion, Stetson Original

    Cologne: Aqua Di Gio

    Mark,
Good question, I only own the Blue and the Vigoroso, if you had asked me before I used Floïd Blue for 30 consecutive shaves, I would have chosen it; but I got a bit burned out on the scent, which, to my nose reminds me of Aqua Velva. (I always catch flack when I make that statement) Today's Vigoroso was refreshingly different. It's like powdery menthol. Today--it's my favorite. :happy088: I wish I could help you out with more information. Both are great!

    pre: Palmer's oil
    soap: Route 66 Bay Rum
brush: TGN synthetic in custom handle
razor: Stahly head on MR6 handle
    blade: Astra SP
post: DIY balm (HolyRollah's recipe - check sig)

Today was another adventure in Maggard MR6 greatness. I went back to the standard Maggard head yesterday for a shave so smooth that, had I skipped today altogether, I still could have passed military inspection "back in the day" (but not my personal BBS standard of today!). This morning I had to test just the handle, because I think it is a doozy!

To test the MR6 handle, I decided to pair it with the Stahly head. My Stahly head originally came with a defunt "live blade" jiggling handle (which I tossed). I think I only used the Stahly on a cheap Mercurry handle. I thought the Stahly head a nice shave, but a wee bit too mild to be more than a novelty shave for me. Adding the MR6 handle gave the Stahly head new life. Though still mild, I achieved almost BBS on the first pass — which I comfortably turned into ATG after the first stroke or two! (Yesterday's shave was just that good.)

I applied a second lather, but it was really just for touchups. Maybe this relaxed touchup was why I missed a teensy spot that I didn't discover until applying my version of Kevin's DIY AS balm (check sig). <sigh> Removed it dry with my Schick J1 then retouched that spot with balm. Really good shave!

I am still reluctant to join you handle swappers. I think this hobby is robbing me of good sense as it is (and I have none to spare!). I am not sure I have the energy to add another dimension to my shaving regimen! :angry032:

But that MR6 handle sure is a game changer... DANG IT!

Prep - Shower / Woods Of Windsor Cedar Woods soap / Pre-lather / 3 min steam
    Razor - Ever Ready 1912
Blade - GEM Personna SS (#3)
    Brush - Omega 20106
    Soap - Nanny's Ice and A Slice
After - Freezer Towel / Alum
    Result - BBS

I'm very open-minded, but I refuse to believe I could get a better shave than that which I've just recieved. My fave is ridiculously smooth and with not even a hint of skin conditions such as razor burn. When I use any DE, I often catch a skin tag on my moustache area, causing much bleeding. It just won't happen with SE, perhaps that's down to the stiffer nature of the blade.

    Brush Focus: Day 28/30
    Brush: Fendrihan Silvertip Badger 22/49
    Gillette - K-4 (1965) Slim Adjustable. (5).
    Gillette Platinum Blade (7)
    Soap: Saint Charles Shave Pumpkin
    A/S: Saint Charles Shave Pumpkin
    Old Spice Coffee Mug.(soak brush)
The Fendrihan Silvertip is an outstanding brush. Ever though it is Silvertip it has a good backbone and is not floppy at all. Loads lots of lather and is a real good feel on my face. One of my best brushes and a good height for a Silvertip Badger (49mm). The soap is pretty good (like the wooden bowl)and a little different, and the same applies for the A/S. I'll change razors and blades tomorrow along with soap and A/S. This brush is diffidently in the top 5 I'm sure.
