SOTD 06.04.2015 June Open Comb Focus Prep: Coconut Oil, Hot shower Razor: Gillette New SC Blade: Voskhod Brush: Omega 10083 Boar Brush Lather: The Copper Hat Shaved Ice Soap/Kiss My Face Lavender Cream Post: Cold rinse, Alum, Witch hazel, TBS Maca Root ASB Thought I would go a little rebelious and mix an average soap with a great cream. Minty and floral scent! Yum! Worked out a lot better than I hoped. I didn't need to do 3 passes, but I was really enjoying the feeling and smell of these two products. Cheers.
Finally tried out my Wolf this morning. Full shave report can be found here. In short: It was a fantastic shave. Razor: Wolfman razor (dual head (custom made a bit more aggressive) and WRH7 handle). All in brushed, stainless steel. Blade: Voskhod Brush: Rubberset 400-3 w/ TGN Grade A Silvertip knot Soap: Fitjar Isros A/S: Myrsol Agua Balsamica
6/4/2015 Throwback Thursday!! Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: Gillette Red Tip, CMON Filarmonica Doble Temple straight razor Blade: Super Max Platinum (6) Brush: Turkish #6 Soap: Williams Mug Soap After: Home made ASB, Nivea after shave balm Cologne: Prada - Amber Pour Homme Intense It is Throwback Thursday and I used Williams Mug Soap. I soaked the puck while I took a shower. The soap exploded in the bowl with the #6 brush. The lather was thick, but halfway through the first pass it tried to do the disappearing act. I will have to give it credit, it did hang on until the end. The Fily and the Red tip did their jobs well. The Nivea ASB and the Prada were a nice finish to a 2 pass Darn Fine Shave. Have a blessed day!
So the WSP was a good match with #2. Would it go good with #1 too? I don't know if I would like the bay leaf twist. Not big on bat rum scents. But the fir might make it more woodsy.
I wouldn't buy it again, it lacks staying power, scent. I've been spoiled with such better aftershave makers that this one just doesn't cut it. I'll still use it, after all it's paid for .

I used my ever dwindling supply of AOS Sandalwood today mixed with unscented MDC for a very nice shave in terms of comfort, closeness and fragrance. This is an excellent combo. AOS remains my favorite of all the Sandalwood scents. MDC w/ AOS Sandalwood Rapira Stainless slim adjustable

SOTD - Thursday, June 4, 2015 Cool shower Prep: Lime PSO Brush: Rooney 1/2, Super Silvertip Cream: Castle Forbes Lime Razor: Merkur 38C Blade: Lord Super Stainless (1) Aftershave: Dominica Bay Rum Lime
Razor: Gillette Redtip, (A-3) 1955 Blade: Gillette, Platinum (2) Brush: Fendrihen Silvertip 22/49 Soap: Razo Rock, Don Donato Soak my brush in the Old Spice coffee mug for about a minute. A/S: Osage Rub Great shave tonight with this combination. Finding I'm getting a better shave with the Gillette Platinum blade than with the Feather. I like the Razo Rock Don Donato, and the Osage Rub A/S. I had trouble with this brush loosing hair when I first got it, but that is over now. Three passes.
SOTD 6-4-15 PRESHAVE: Face wash with soap and warm/hot water RAZOR: iKon OSS with Bamboo handle BLADE: Gillette Silver Blue (3) SOAP: Reef Point Soaps Sandalwood BOWL: VDH BRUSH: VDH Boar SHAVETTE: Universal Shavette with Astra SP (new) POST: Rinse with warm/hot water to get soap off and then some cold water rinses/splashes and pat try. Comments: Well, since I just sent in my Wolfman heads for a mod, I was left with the iKon OSS. When I opened the desk and seen the unused Universal Shavette, I thought I might as well try it and see what happens. I put in a new Astra SP blade, lathered up the Reef Point Soap Sandalwood sample I just got in today and as things were going pretty good shaving the cheeks then suddenly a nick on the cheek by jawline. Okay no biggie so started going under the lip area XTG and bam, another nick. I said that okay, it happens. That one didnt want to stop so I grabbed the Styptic pencil and hit that nick and continued on. Did some of the other cheek, then I just got a little mad at myself for the two nicks and put the shavette away and finished my shave with the iKon OSS. I figured I must no have enough concentration at this point to keep going with the shavette so I didnt. Soap was very good and my first time ever using Reef Point. The nice slick lather provided me with great protection and feel throughout the shave and the post shave feel was also very good. No issues with the soap what so ever! The scent was not strong enough to drive nuts as I don't like strong scented soaps so I was pleased about that. The scent is stronger than others I have tried but not too strong! No irritation though so I would say it was a good DFS shave with only a couple of bad points! First point is that the iKon OSS feels too mild to me and of course the other bad point was the two nicks and my lost concentration to finish with the shavette! Maybe next time! Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.
Plans for Friday: Nivea Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Derby day 5 Stirling Barbershop SS Lubriderm Unscented Moisturizer Pinaud Clubman AS Sample Back to the Stirling way of shaving, and I chose a fabulous soap which I always wanted to get. Rod's Barbershop one can be a bit tricky to lather but if you're patient and you put in a bit of extra effort you'll get excellent, rich, stable lather which will remind you of an old-school, traditional barbershop from the scent - wow, do I ever love it. The skincare cannot be beaten and I hope to keep this soap in my rotation at all times. The Clubman's scent seems to pair very well with the Barbershop and I'm planning to buy a bottle really soon. I wish everyone a great weekend in advance!
