    OCTOBER FOCUS - OLD TYPE

Since the great advice from Kerry I've had two really close, and really comfortable, shaves with my 1907 Single Ring. BBS on Saturday, DFS today. I'm really working with a shallow angle and that seems to be the key. By shallow I mean barely off the cap, the blade just starting to touch my skin. I've got 5 more days with the SR, then I switch to my Great Uncles Old Type with the heavier 102a top.

In baseball, even families are divided by individual allegiances.

Lovable losers? Even the Red Sox had their day...and they're not very lovable at all!

It's a forgone conclusion. If you remember when Marty McFly traveled to 2015 in "Back to the Future II" the Cubs won the Series in 5. image.jpg

Yes the St.Louis Post has been full of stories of families with both Cubs and Cards fans who have had to adapt to the new playoff reality. It's really all great fun for most. As for the Red Sox? They seem to have fallen on a new curse since breaking the Bambino's. Maybe it's time for the billy goat to die in Chicago to make room for another 100 year drought as well.

LOL The #6 did go through my head. Her explanation is that her horses were always paints or lighter colors. She has a horsehair fly whip that she made from the tail hair of two of her horses. It's about the color of a boar brush but still....boar bristles....horse hair......seem to be different to me. I'm not arguing anymore though. I'm just happy I figured out a way to buy another brush with her blessing. :happy036:

Ok, so I decided to change things up a little just because. My SOTD, also, I had a 4 day beard

    Shower, face wash
    Gillette SS
    Crystal Blade
    Col. Conk bay rum
    Classic Best Badger
    WH & Dove ASB

I had a pretty thick beard going, but lathered the Col. Conk bay rum up in my new garage sale lather bowl. Lather well and maintained lather on my face. I focused a lot on blade angle. My main goal for this shave was just a reduction shave for tomorrow's back to work shave. I shaved WTG/XTG/XTG. The crystal blade was extremely comfortable, and only draggy in very dense spots. Could've been sharper but the comfort was outstanding. My face seems to be loving Israeli blades. I completed no touch ups, just 3 pass and done, no weepers, A++ for irritation Absolutely none, and the final product was a DFS. One of my best so far. It almost came effortlessly. Extremely pleased with today's shave.

Very Nice! I also find Crystal to be a smooth blade. Today was an example of how sometimes we surprise ourselves with unforeseen results, by simply performing the task, rather than "trying" for a specific outcome.

That's the way to get it done. Good job staying the course. Quick question for you. I thought you mentioned it but what is your MOS?

Thank you for your service. Back in the day, I was Infantry/Tow Missile Gunner. 11B/11H

It usually works that way. You're doing it right, concentrate on the techniques and the results will come.

And thank you for yours Clint! 11B are a breed all their own. Y'all sure know how to embrace the suck. And that's what I've been trying, I used a very shallow angle compared to normal and it worked great.
