My goodness! You do have a problem! Just kidding. You have a really nice Shave Den! I knew you enjoyed brushes, but I didn't realize you had so many soaps. I also learned that you mostly have vintage razors along with some very cool newer gear (Mongoose and Wolfman). All in all, it looks good!
Thank you Charlie. I did let the soap thing get out of hand and my goal is to finish up some inventory over the next couple of months. Brushes have been my addiction problem for sure. Now that I have the 400 #4 I am done with brushes for a while. Another member graciously helped secure a very special knot for the restoration so it will not be completed until late November. You have a very balanced collection between the razors, soaps and aftershaves. If these are a worst problems, I would say we are ok.
Having played the song on YouTube I would like to avail myself of this opportunity to make a correction. Forget "Dream"
Never too early to get your stuff before the holiday rush! No shave today... See you guys Saturday night... I hope everyone has great weekend!
October 10 Plans Gillette New LC in Gun-Kote Bronze by Delta Echo Razor Works Feather blade (1) Kent BK4 silvertip brush Arko Two passes Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Trumper's Coral Skin Food I'm having a ball shaving with this set up during OCtober. The New LC delivers consistently close and comfortable shaves. My first pass is always WTG, and my second pass is usually a combination of XTG and ATG. I will occasionally add a third ATG pass, but not today. I've been rotating between Trumper's Coconut cream, and either TSD unscented or Arko soap. They've all been great performers for me. Have a terrific weekend!
OCtober 30 Day Focus -- Cadet Open Comb October 9 Razor – Cadet Open Comb Blade – Ladas Brush – VDH Boar Preshave – Olive tree tobacco and leather soap Soap – Stirling sharp dressed man Post - Cold Water Splash, Witch hazel, old spice Tried something new today. I used the olive tree soap as a preshave facial wash as suggested by Clint (@clint64). Worked well and paired reasonably well with the sharp dressed man from Stirling. The combo was definitely slick. Did something else for the first time with this shave. I went for one pass ATG. Had very little time Friday morning (busy day doing last minute shopping etc for my daughter's 15th birthday . . . man they grow up quick). Well it worked much better than I expected. My last shave was an excellent one so the growth was not as much as some times. After the ATG pass I am pretty sure I ended up with a DFS- shave everywhere except my chin which was CCS. Everything looked good. No touch up and will do a full shave later this morning. (For some reason I cannot get to sleep so hopefully will catch a little sleep before long and can shave later this morning for my OCtober 10 shave). Y'all have a good weekend and Happy Shaving!
10/10/2015 Razor – Red & Black New Deluxe 15mm Blade – Feather (1) Brush – Romera Olivewood Synthetic Lather – Mitchell’s Wool Fat Post - Witch Hazel & Myrsol F/Extra Continuing October's OC Focus, the next razor up in the rotation is the Red & Black New Deluxe 15mm LC. There are 2 different base plates for the New Deluxe, a 17mm and a 15mm. While the overall width of the plates are the same, on the 15mm the cut outs for the combs extend further into the base plate. This small difference does change the feel of the razor on the skin compared to my New LC which has a 17mm base plate. They also seem to require a slightly different angle as well. The New Deluxe loaded with the Feather resulted in the super close and smooth shave. The 3 pass shave this morning was easily the closest shave of the month. With results like this, I will certainly be spending more time this month with the New Deluxe trying different blades and/or handles. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra and I am ready for a relaxing Saturday. I hope you have a great Saturday as well.
