Yes, thanks to some lovely photos here, I found that. Thank you. I can feel either one will be happy in my home (should I find one). I think I would prefer the weight of either Popular over my Senator.

Let's see, the Senator weighs in at 54 grams, and the Popular is 61, with all the additional weight seeming to be in the head.

thank you Rick. That is great to know. Could you also advise if the head (comb/blade gap/angle etc) on the #46/#47 populars is the same as the #15/#19 (weights?) combed TTO aristos?

Then Populars are far more aggressive than the #15s, which I believe is a result of the difference in the combs. Look at the side-by-side below, and see how much longer the tines of the comb are on the Popular versus the #15, which I imagine gives it more blade exposure. Without a doubt, the Popular is the most aggressive open comb razor I have used -- far more so than the 3 piece Old Type. The #15 weighs in at a healthy 73 grams, but is more balanced feeling because that extra weight seems to have all been put in the handle.

#15 on left, Popular on right.

Rick, this is terrific assistance. I have been trying to find these things out for an age. A couple days at TSD and I meet you. Comb razors I have used include OLD, the various News/Improved etc, Senator and 1912 ER. Learning the differences of the #15 and #47 as shavers, I CAN see a 'requirement' for both. You take some great photos too BTW

Glad I could help, but now I am going to muddy the waters because the tines on the Senator comb are as long as the Popular, but it is no where near as aggressive, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. :D

Popular on left, Senator on right.

I had a great reply, but it vanished into the ether!

Thank you Rick, no not muddying the waters at all. I am really enjoying the information and images you are sharing. It appears the aggressive to 'mild' goes from
    Populars (61g - head heavy), #15/#19 (73g - balanced), Senator/Sheraton (54g - slight head heavy).

Maybe it is other factors that contribute such as the head profile, blade gap, blade/comb angle (may have different curve, exposed combs). It'd be great to see a shot of the three from the 'skinny' aspect to show the comb angle and blade gap/angle.
    If this is possible?

Great stuff Rick. Really interesting. Thanks again
