I've seen many TOP 5 lists on youtube that have Voshkods #1. I have to try this blade one of these days !!!
I read that you moved a blade between razors. Most of the time this is what i do daily. But, some of my razors (especially thr r41 and fatip) dont share well with other razos. Just sayin, you may feel substandard performance when taking a blade from the r41 to another razor, you may be apt to blame the blade. My experience is that it's not the blades fault. Same blade started out in say a fatboy may be a great shave. Hope i didnt confuse, just wanted to let you know some razors dont share nicely.
I've got a tuck on the way. I'm looking forward to giving them a shot in my SA-109. This will be after my current Focus shave.
For me the second shave with a Voshkod is better than the first. These are the gentlest and most comfortable blades I have tried and they have good efficiency too. However the first shave gets rid of a little of the teflon so by the second you get a still comfortable but slightly sharper blade. I hear that some people jeans or hand strop them before use.
My sample pack, which I am still working my through, did not include Voskhod. I order a pack of five which just arrived yesterday. I only have two other blades left to test - Gillette 7 O'clock SharpEdge (yellow pack) and Feather. I'll finish the test with the Voskhod. I'm using a Merkur 34c for all testing to provide a bit of control/uniformity. We'll see.
I don't think you will go far wrong with them. I have not read a single bad review of the Voshkod. The second shave is better than the first as some of the teflon comes off but they are super smooth with zero irritation for me.
second voskhod shave;53 canadian tech, proraso red pre shave and soap, semogue 830 brush, alum block and proraso red after shave splash.nik free ,no irritation, glorious dfs+!!!
I guess "Your Mileage Really Can Vary"-I use Astra SPs in my R41 regularly and they're great. I put a Voshkod in to try it and changed it before the shave was over. For me, it wasn't as sharp and was rougher than an Astra SP.
Lot of variables. Beard type and technique being the two biggies. Skin type too I suppose. Astra SP's never worked for me in any of my razors.
Really, that's wild. I haven't experimented much with blades I found a couple that work well for me-Astra and Feather-and stuck with them. I'm looking forward to trying some other blades to see what else I like. That's what led me to try the Voshkod.
