My wife and I were talking about this last night. Why are we now excited to get gas for $2.80 a gallon? I remember when I was upset to pay more than a dollar for a gallon, and I am not that old. (keep telling myself that anyway)
I have no idea. I'm glad I'm not getting robbed as badly as I was last summer, but I'm still just as irritated that gasoline isn't $1 a gallon as I was 5 years ago. Maybe I shouldn't hold such a grudge. $5 & $10 per gallon for those of you in other places would probably infuriate me if I was paying that much. Rodd, I guess we just try to get used to what we have and when it gets better, we like it, and when it gets worse, we don't. Is it all relative to what we have adjusted ourselves to affording? I forgot to mention gasoline is $2.56 this morning
Down to $2.97 here in cenla (central louisiana). When people start talking about mass transit, I chuckle. Who would pay for mass transit to small urban and rural communities like mine? Mass transit only works for tightly packed, mostly urban areas. Just imagine the cost of bringing mass transit to all of Texas (not just Dalls, Ft. Worth, and Austin). It's a nice idea but just won't work for most of the nation.
Hi Malcolm. We're not complaining at all. We're happy. Gas prices are falling. That's certainly nothing for us to complain about. :whacky011
$3.23 this AM. How can oil fall 40% in 2 weeks and my price at the pump only goes down 10% ???? but .......I aint one to complain ot
Exactly. Which is why gas price is so important to us. We don't really have any choice in transportation modes.
We're down to 2.58 per gallon. Two stores compete with each other by the penny. One is 2.59 so the other posts 2.58...
Don't ask too many questions. Someone, somewhere might notice that people are happy for a change and flip the switch from "lower" to "raise." And it's down to 2.87 at the corner gas station. That's a drop of over .30 in one day.
I paid $2.94 yesterday ..........I am happy it's going down...But with the prices at $70 a barrel and falling it really should be around $2.00 a gallon.......... ......the oil companies may only make $5 Billion profit this quarter :angry019
Right Padron. The last time oil was this low, gasoline was $1.99 here. This morning it is $2.49 Oh I know, they'll use the extra profits to build more refineries, right? :happy102
Oh heck no. But I like 2.89 better than 4.10, and I'm glad prices are continuing to drop. Shows that someone got very, very rich over this past year.
I paid $2.57 a gallon yesterday....sure was nice to get a little more for the money.... Very bummed to hear OPEC is cutting oil production to try and keep the prices up ......aren't they rich enough already?
The gas has been dropping 3-6 cents a day. I was talking to my brother on Thursday morning it was 2.28. When I decided to fill up Saturday afternoon it was 2.17 and by evening it was down to 2.14.
A big +1, although I suspect I'm older. $2.58 here, but that's a far cry from where it should be relative to the price of oil. Of course OPEC is cutting production to stabilize prices and talk of alternative energy diminishes with the price we pay at the pump.
$2.34/gal. was as low as I've seen it yet. And while many of you make good points about the retail price vs. the wholesale price, it is pretty clear it will eventually go back up the next time some Middle East nutcase does something else stupid or the futures markets gin up some other "crisis." So I will simply enjoy filling my 16 gallon tank for less than $40 USD again and hope it stays like this for awhile.
