2020 Traveling Box Round One

Today's shave. The SS is going in the box. The Godrej and brush were already in there. Wonderful shave!

You were invited to participate in the last round. Reading your post I know you would not abuse the box.

As of today we still don’t have a final give and take post from the last participant. My guess is we never see one.

SBarnhardt please pm me your address. I have a user grade red tip (No end caps) a Slim with a Sticky door that functions and a Micromatic that I would be happy to send you with an assortment of blades to try

Just a quick update, as I believe I'm next in line for 'The Box'.

I'll be out of pocket from Friday til Monday next week. I work weekends, and this weekend is one that covers 4 days and ~1000 miles of travel (driving). It is okay to ship 'The Box', as there will be someone to receive it (my better half). Just letting everyone know I won't have a chance to open it til Tuesday/Wednesday next week.

If @MrEE wants extra time, that's perfectly alrighty in my book.

 

That's helpful! I still have 1 more razor to restore and I've been called into work the last 2 nights. I'll use Thursday night to finish the last razor and ship out the box Friday morning so it arrives early next week.

I now have the extra package from @Tommynick and got an extra package from @Enrico on Saturday. Very very generous! Will post pictures tonight.

@Tommynick sent a NEW SC which I find extremely tempting... I don't have a NEW SC in my collection. Would it be absolutely evil to trade that for a beautifully plated NEW LC?

That's the NEW SC I'm interested in. Some slight plating lose but pretty good shape. The NEW LC I would trade it for is nickel plated in excellent condition. Again it won't all fit. There are going to be some tough choices being made tomorrow night.

I can say this, the box's glory has been restored.

 

I can repair that redtip! Probably cost me about $10 for the donor razor, but I can repair the endcaps and replate it if needed. RedTips are amoung my favorite razors to restore.

So if someone wants it send it my way and we'll return it to it's former awesomeness. I'd do the same for you @Tommynick! If you end up keeping it.

 

I can probably repair that slim too depending on what's wrong with it. I might ask people to cover costs of parts or provide donor razors, but I make nothing. I just enjoy working with my hands...and seeing my work in SOTD photos...

 

I have no problems adding it to your collection after the work you put in restoring the other razors

The box is packed and ready to go. These are my gives:

So, that's 7 replated razors in the box. Taking 60 min of work on average each. There are also 7 people remaining in rotation...

 

I am planning to participate in the next round so if people want to put worn razors in the box there is a good chance I'll replate a few in the next time the box is in my possession. Time permitting of course. There is a lot of work involved.

 

I've got a few I was planning to donate, a couple of which you could have plating fun with. I just don't want to be involved with the box if it's going to be rancorous. We've had that before.

 

My final takes. I took a couple items that are awesome and a few that just wouldn't fit.

 

Box has been replenished. Plenty of good stuff to try. The spirit of the box has been restored.
