It's funny , I didn't sign up this time as the last few times the box didn't really have a lot of stuff that interested me and this time I have seen stuff that makes me wish I had.. maybe next time....
Box is all packed up. Had to repack it when I saw the bottom reinforcement in the old box. Also claimed some body lotion since I forgot to get it in. Should mail out tomorrow. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
The Box has made it to Rochester today! I was out when it arrived, so my OL brought it inside. She said she'd been expecting it to be heavy, but wasn't expecting it to be that heavy! After unpacking it, I can't see my dining room table any more. There's a ton of stuff to go through so it'll take a couple of days to figure out my Takes and Gives. More to come.
It took me a while to get through the box contents. A pretty fair assortment of soaps/creams and somewhere in the vicinity of 20 razors. I grabbed some blades I didn't have and some soaps/creams; I like ToBS so that ToBS gift set really got my attention. My Takes: In return, I threw in some samples, a couple of Mickey Lee pre-shave butters, and an AoS cream, a set from Strike Gold, a Vulfix badger (OK, but nothing to write home about) and some blades I had plenty of. My gives:
The Traveling Shave Den arrived Thursday ...... just been very busy. All wrapped up like a Christmas gift. Wahoooo it's loaded! I was all excited when I saw the tubes thinking they were cigars, almost as nice .... cologne. My son is also a member here and wants to make some minor gives and takes for some blades. I'll tack him on the line up to keep it legit. Unless I hear other wise the box is going to have a holiday layover till January, but let me know otherwise. I plan on restoring a few higher end brushes to add to the Traveling Shave Den for the next round. BTW ...... WOW is there a lot of soaps in here. Also how is pre shave butter used?
Before the shave. Just not on your toast. Other than that, no idea. They were part of an auction package I won. Since I wasn't using them, I figured I'd pass them on for someone who might. Mickey Lee unobtainium ought to find a home somewhere.
Though they smell very nice, they will continue in the box. I, only in the past year, have consistently used shaving soap and only once (in a pinch) use barbasol. I'm a no frills one lather and done shaver; very much like my dad.
That almost sounds like me. Over the 8 years since I moved to traditional shaving, I used one can of the canned goop (Barbasol). Most of my first month was Dial applied by hand. Then I tried face-lathering WMS with a bottom end AoS pure badger. That cured me of face lathering. Bowl lathering ever since. Since then, the soaps I've used the most are WMS by a wide margin, Stirling, Dr. Jon's, & MWF. Stocked up on WMS as they discontinued it. I prefer natural hair brushes, especially boar, and really only use synth brushes if I'm traveling, or if I've done something stupid to my face. Don't let your wife or kids make you laugh when you're shaving. Don't ask!
I've been traditional shaver going on twelve years; starting with everything from hand soap to Stirling. Recently I was gifted a partial can of Le Pere Lucien which opened my eyes to some very nice shaving soap, not saying there is anything wrong with Stirling; I'm currently enjoying three or four of their scents. When I first started I only had one brush, an Omega Boar, which I still have. Then I got in to restoring brush to synthetic, but over the past seven or eight years I moved over to badger. I really enjoy the natural feel of badger and the occasional boar. I still have a synthetic for travel, but have thinned out the synthetics out of my brushes over the past couple years. Not that there is anything really wrong with synthetic, but in a world of so much that's artificial, I really enjoy natural with all their flaws and nuances.
I'm reaching out to all that are interested in being part of the next round of Traveling Shave Den. I'm currently restoring a slew of brushes for the box and found a new 24mm black badger knot in my inventory. If anyone likes lots of scritch in a brush; I would install it in to a newly restored brush handle. Let me know.
You can count me in for the next round. And I do love me some scritch. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
BTW what style brush handle do you like ...... Surrey AKA medium Barbershop AKA larger BTW I have many to choose from.
Waiting until January is fine I've got plenty of goodies to tie me over. As for handle, dealers choice. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
