Hi all. No, I haven't completely vanished. Just mostly. I'll get everything back together tonight and ready to go tomorrow.
The box arrived today, @Frijolero. Man, it is packed! I had a cursory look through and will peruse more closely tomorrow.
Here we go... Couple of these things I've wanted forever, but they never seem to turn up locally. And the gives:
Thanks for your patience, boxers. It was a difficult day, but I was able to spend some quality time with the box. Thank you to the gents who shared a few items that I was instantly drawn to. Spoiler alert, there are a number of nice old razors that seem like they’ll be highly usable once cleaned. I came close to adopting a very nice Slim, because that’s what my Uncle Martin used, but tbh I’m not acquiring vintage razors anymore just for the sake of acquiring, and left it for the next gentleman to look it over. I took the liberty of gently wrapping the DE razors in paper towels and filled a small box. The SEs were already in a bag, and I left them as they were. I took four items from the box, and want to say a really big thank you to the members of this tour for your generosity. I’ve a soft spot for cream colored English brushes, and it happened that one was calling my name as I was cutting the box open. “chaz! chaz!” I heard it. Then I spotted a bottle of Avon Blue Blazer aftershave, the scent of which reminds me of the 1970s. I was hip, young, groovy, athletic and good looking. Now I’m not, but the splash brings me back, so thank you very much! A tuck of Astras for good measure. And most definitely the greatest treat I could have imagined. Something for which I’d been pining for a very long time; a classy and stylish mug for my puck of Mitchell’s. Over the years my MWF has lived in two plastic tubs and a wooden bowl, none of which really floated my boat. This gorgeous Old Spice mug knocks me out! What I adopted what I put in New 8 oz. bottle of St. John’s Bay Rum. Used once, not my bag, enjoy! Travel tube DRH cream, The Gillette is good for parts. 4 B&M soap samples, 2 2oz. samples of Ogallala, assorted other samples I’ve accumulated, a couple of tucks of Israeli Personnas, some injector blades for the injector razors that are in the box. The soaps and old razor travel case below were in the box when it arrived, but I couldn’t get them back in, and I also couldn’t fit the bowl of OG tallow Tabac that I wanted to include. Please, please, please, somebody in this thread, tell me you want them and I’ll send them your way lickety-split. Thanks again, @Enrico for organizing, and all of ewes guys for the goodies!
that tallow tabac sounds nice.. unfortunately I didnt sign up this time as having so much going on with sick kids and wife and myself.. I hope you hear from someone....
@chazt I almost took you up on the soaps, but I'm very sensitive to certain ingredients in soap and unfortunately both of those have it. I think it's a great idea if no one jumps on it to do as you said and pass it on to @jaro . BTW @chazt great gives and takes!
@chazt, Since @jaro spoke up first, I'll leave the Tabac for him. But I'd like the De Vergulde Hand and the Mysore soaps if that's OK? Particularly the De Vergulde Hand. If That's OK, I'll PM you my address. Thanks. Tom
Give and Take is what it’s all about. Some time ago, for a dozen years or so, after my gig in bar bands had morphed into parenthood, I set myself up as a small-time children’s music teacher/performer. My business card read Give and T.A.K.E. Music (Totally Appropriate Kids’ Entertainment). Had a website too. Our goal was to foster kids’ love of learning old folk and camp songs by singing aloud with joyous energy and harmoniosity. I let the website languish some seven or eight years ago. I’m considering now to recreate and repackage the concept and bring it to community and senior centers in the area. We shall see. It’s under consideration with no timetable.
Moving right along, then. The big box goes out tomorrow to @jimjo1031 , and a smaller box will be heading to Tom @Lancre. Thank you again Shave Den for the fun and goodies
Okay, the boxes are sealed and addressed. P.O. tomorrow. Question for the group, please. When asked by the clerk are there any fluids or anything flammable, how do you reply? There’s a ton of such material here. If I say yes, what happens?
I think they just ask if it was packed right and might change the shipping options like ground Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
