Wednesday - Fat handle Tech with Astra SP Thursday - Stahly Live Blade with Astra SP Cranked up the Stahly for the duration of all three plus passes. Don't know if it was the vibrating or the blade, but, MAN, I sure got a great shave. I'm gonna have to start using this razor more often.

Went with a 4-piece today! My Merkur travel razor with the Astra SP I've been using all week. 5-Blade shave!
Gillette old style open comb with an Astra blade. This razor and blade pairing has given me the best shaves from the open comb.
Well, it's the weekend. That's when I have the time to use my str8s. And today I did just that. But, I will post a pic of the 3-piece, yes, even a 4-piece, razors I've used during this 3-Piece Theme Week. Left to right - Gillette Old Type, Gillette New Type, Fat Handle Tech, Stahly Live Blade, Merkur Travel Tech
Today was day four for the Gillette old style comb with an Astra blade. Again a great shave. Theme weeks are fun to participate in. Great to use a variety of different products.
I have really enjoyed this theme week. I have used my Feather AS-D1 all week and have grown to appreciate how smooth this razor is. Again those who say this razor is mild is confusing "mild" for "smooth". I have realized thru the week that I can get just as close of a shave with it as I can with my Gillette fatboy or Gillette super speed. The only difference is combined with the sharpness of the Feather blade and the smoothness of the Feather AS-D1 I can go ATG on the 1st pass and not worry about any ill effects such as irritation, bumps or burn. Over the coarse of this week, this razor has proven it's self to me. And to think I tried to sell it. Glad I didnt.
Today was a razor and blade change. Today I changed to 40's Gold Tech loaded with a Ladas blade. Nice razor and blade combo, effortless shave this morning.
Here is a pic of my butt ugly Clix I used this week, all the paint is gone on the pot metal end cap, but it still delivers a dern good shave.
I believe it was a combination of switching to the yellow Feather blades and a better understanding of the razor and improving technique. Just paying closer attention to how I shave with the Feather and experimenting with different angles of attack.
Today's shave was a tribute to my grandfather, who has long since departed: Rudy Vey Restore Everready Red/Cream Finest Vintage Williams Tonsorial ShaveSoap (thanks Danny [Dslazar9]) My grandfather's Gillette Old Type Open Comb Classic Old Spice That was a truly great and enjoyable shave! It brought back memories of standing next to my grandfather watching him mix up lather using Williams and shaving with his Old Type. I am glad to have such a rich memory, and have the opportunity to keep it going forward! Thank you for allowing me to share this shaving moment.
