    April 27 SOTA

    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave #449
    Dovo
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (4)
    JR #290 Cashmere Brush
    Arko SS
    Fine Accoutrements Platinum
    AS Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs

    Dome Shave
    Gillette Heritage Razor (not pictured)
    Gillette Platinum DE Blade (4)
    Dome Growth: 2 days

I decided to use my trusty Dovo Shavette this session because I always get fine shaves with it. Personna Hairshaper blades are ultra sharp. I think it's overkill for my 1 day stubble, but I don't mind. I also decided to bowl lather because it's been quite awhile since I've done so. Here's my Arko lather:
    20230427_173713.jpg

I did a 2 pass shave with a tiny chin weep, but dabbed the alum and it was fine. The result was a nice, comfortable and close shave. I wasn't planning on doing a headshave, but I made enough lather that I just went for it. It's also the reason why I didn't include a photo because it was a spur of the moment thing. I did my usual 3 pass shave with the Heritage Razor and got cue ball smooth, but I had to to a decent amount of touchups to complete the mission. There was not any blood loss on the dome. Moreover, the alum was mostly silent all the way around. Splashed on the FA Platinum aftershave to end this session. Take care.

Super shave setup Danny, like the look of your Yaqi brush and others posted here. I might soon not be able to resist!

Very creative Joe and superb looking lather, I do prefer bowl lathering. You gotta love that smiling Arko face!

24 hours growth, pre work shave.
Essentially the same setup as yesterday.

    Razor: R89 again.
Blade: Gillette Stainless (2) giving it another chance.
    Soap: T&H Sandalwood.
    Brush: Omega synthetic black
    Bowl: white lather bowl
    Usual face prep.
Post: Hot and cold water rinse. Thayers.
Aftershave: the only difference today was a handful of Brut A/S and some locally made Who is Elijah EdP not my favourite but anyway I bought it and will stick with it. More than ½ gone already.

    Pass 1: WTG and XTG
Pass 2: XTG and ATG, interesting the lather was thicker today allowing me to merge Pass 2 with my usual buffing of the tricky areas.

Overall great result, with no damage.
The lather was slicker and thicker and smoother than ever.
Easy comfortable shave, Pass 2 somehow merged into buffing.
I am changing my mind about the Gillette Stainless and think it works well with the R89 (but then most of my blades do)
I seem to be able to press more firmly over the fleshy parts of the face on the first pass, the bony bits (chin and Adam’s Apple) still demand a much lighter touch.
Smooth and refreshed, with only some remaining roughness left lower neck.
    Overall 9/10.

Have a great weekend ladies and gents.

Thanks Chris. I bought that bowl and a slightly larger one for just under $1.50 a piece at the Dollar Tree Store. The interior is very smooth and it proves that you can use any bowl, even those without ridges or bumps, to make a fine lather.

    For this morning's shave(Fri, 28th) two changes:

    prep-Dial4 Men Bodywash(in shower)*
shave-Jeeves of Hudson Stl Bay Rum
    brush-Stoylin 26 mm. "Pro-Handle"
    razor-Gillette Sensor Deuce Pivot DisposeABLE
    A.S.-Gabels Bay Rum

    *-
    Cedar Leaf scent.

Another nice job administering the soap onto my face and neck.2 passes. One cut(at S. Porcupine Alley-the chin), no Knicks, no Polka-Dots. This time, I used a bit less of the Bay Rum aftershavend it certainly made a difference in the clove scent. That's the way to do it when cloves are part of the persuasion-less A.S. is better. The one cut brings the commentary down to Most Outstanding.

Tribute to Paul, @Paul Turner, Presentation Shave. ;) :eatdrink013:

Wonderful Fougere scent shave this morning. Three passes with the FA Clauberg razor easily mowed down this morning’s growth. Following the shave and Anthony’s departure for school I took a 35 minute walk around the neighborhood. Now I am off to the city of Boston with my wife’s cousins to spending my Friday evening squid fishing. A new adventure for me.

Hope you have a great day gentlemen.

Shore Shave Cool Water Mint Ribbon synthetic brush.
    Mitchell’s Wool Fat soap.
    Timeless Razor shave bowl.
    Cremo Bourbon and Oak EdT.

Awesome Fat Friday shave with the ATT. The ATT took care of business and the gorgeous Shore Shave brush beat the Fat into submission.

I took the day off :happy108: to spend some time with my wife. We are riding over to Columbus Mississippi to do a little shopping and to try out a new restaurant we have not been to before. They have a sandwich that was voted best in Mississippi one year. :eatdrink020: I may have to test it out.

    Happy Friday everyone!
