    April 28 SOTE

    Good evening.

    Van der Hagen TTO Razor
    Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (3)
    Hembree Delrin/Maggard Timberwolf Brush
    Arko SS
    Proraso Green AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Beard Growth: 24.5 hrs

    20230428_174054.jpg

I decided to use the mild VdH razor today and is loaded with the Wilkinson Sword blade. I have to say that I like these blades. They are smooth and sharp. That's a great combination. Danny's brush with the Timberwolf knot is very soft and hardly any backbone, but it does a remarkable job building a bowl lather. However, I will say that Arko is an easy soap to lather.
    Here is the proof: 20230428_174812.jpg

I had enough for a 3 pass shave and that's what I ended up having. First pass was with-the-grain, second pass was against-the-grain and the final pass was across-the-grain. I attained an error-free BBS result.
I had some noticeable alum feedback, but I expected it because I usually don't pursue a third pass. Splashed on the lovely Proraso Green aftershave for a refreshing and clean shave. Take care.

Looks super Joe, ice-cream cone-like! It's cool when the lather sort of "comes together" without too much thought.

    Shaving Recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/ Dove Men+Care Clean Comfort Body + Face Wash.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
    Pears Original Transparent Bar Soap.
    Brush: Omega 11047 Mixed Midget.
    Face & Head Lather.
    Lather: La Toja Shave Stick.
    Razor: Merkur 34C. - Vidyut/Supermax Super Stainless. (D1)

    Post:
Cold water face & head wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face & Head Rinse./Alum Rub. /Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils.3 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./ La Toja ASL./ Nivea Men Fresh Moisturising Gel.

(Face & Head Shave) (Shave Stick Week)

A new shave set up to start the weekend...After the comfortable close shaves with the Merkur 34C recently I've decided to do a head shave with this little razor. The verdict?

I wasn't quite sure if the 34C/V-SM blade duo would be efficient enough for head shaving as I normally choose one of my Injector razors or a more aggressive razor/blade setup for my head shaves as my head stubble is very coarse and tends to dull blades far quicker than with my face shaves... However the Super-Max didn't fail to perform with enough efficiency with no indication of feeling tuggy or dulling throughout both shaves.

It's been a while since i used the la toja shave stick, another item I've had in my den for a long time which to be honest another shaving soap I've infrequently used in the past.

The La Toja stick like the Lea stick has a good slickness & post shave I really like the fragrance of the this shave stick, it's got a fresh clean fragrance, which to my nose reminds me of dove soap with a masculine edge to it.

Another enjoyable close comfortable acceptable face and head shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Fresh moisturising Gel.

My face & precious swede are feeling cool smooth, & smelling divine. ;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

Great setup and shave Barry. I am always impressed by your Post shave level of care. I just do a warm and cold rinse, Thayers and then some A/S. I like the few balms I have, but seem to do ok with just the A/S splash.

8C outside this morning, sunny but still fresh outside.

Slowly bringing ARKO ADJUSTABLE APRIL to a close
    Growth: 1.5 days
Brush: Old Vulfix Pure badger, still my favourite
Adjustable Razor: Merkur Progress set on No 3.
    Blade: Gillette Stainless day 3
    Face Prep: Usual
    Pre shave: ProRaso Green
Cream/Soap: Arko: still no dent in this stubborn puck!

    29 Apr 2023b border.jpg

Post Shave: HWR, CWR, liberal amount of Thayers’
    Aftershave: Brut.
Scent: Who is Elijah Nightcap EdP.

    Passes:
Usual 3 passes merging into buffing and ATG in the stubborn areas.

No damage incurred. Super smooth all over except for some 240 grit left around the right of the Adam’s apple. I am more and more impressed by this blade, not often I can take a blade to day 3.

    Superb mid-day shave.

Fleecy top and neck scarf in place, all ready for the family dinner tonight.

Safe and blessed weekend to everyone.

Thank you Chris...I occasionally just finish with the ASL too. Been a cold water shaver I like my post shave ritual it finishes my shave off wonderfully. Especially my head/dome shaves, which I look forward to doing every week. With the summer approaching in the UK i may start to do two head/dome shaves a week instead of just one. Enjoy your weekend. Take care. Barry.

SE Shave # 328 - Shave Stick Saturday - Arko

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Shick - Injector Type J
    Blade: Persona Injector (3)
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: Arko (Stick)
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Excellent Arko shave this morning. We wanted to get out the door relatively quickly to head bad to LI in the hope of limiting the traffic effect on I-95 South heading to NY. As a result I just did a quick one pass with a few minor touch up areas. Also, the picture was taken before I left on Friday therefore it does not account for the audible I called on the balm.

The squid adventure was interesting a fun. A wee bit chilly at times. I managed to catch around 25 squid. We probably were a few days early as the catch was smaller than the previous years my wife’s cousins had made this trip.

Hope you all have an enjoyable day.

Thank you Joe. I should add the La Toja more regular to soap rotation as it's a great performer. Enjoy the start of the weekend.

Thanks Chris. I find using synthetic brushes to bowl lather is much easier than natural bristle brushes.
