    Days growth = 1

    Prep = cold water sock x 3
    Cream/Soap = Tabac Stick
    Brush = Chubby 2
    Bowl = face lathering
    Razor = Merkur Progress 3/2+/~2
    Blade = Shark Super Chrome
    Passes = 3+
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers,
    ASL = Tabac. No balm today
    Scent = Hajar to the pulse points
    Score = 9+++ in terms of results. 8+ only in terms of enjoyment

    Damage = None

    Thoughts = The Tabac lathered well on the face. I use the Merkur Progress because of its larger drainage channels. Compared to the 37C the Progress felt rough. Lot of audible feed back, but needing more care than with the 37C so I dialled it down from 3 to 2 + then to 2
    The Shark super Chrome felt a bit rough
    The Tabac is still quite hard to rinse out of the razor in the first pass but thinned towards the end. Still not enough lather for 3 passes

    Score:
    Bowl lathering = 1
    Face lathering = a measly 0.5

    More things to experiment with!

    Days growth = 1.2 (Late Saturday sleep in)

    Prep = quick cold water splash only
    Soap = Tabac Stick: dipped this in water first to soften it
    Brush = Razorock Plissoft synthetic
    Bowl = Face
    Razor = Gillette Rocket HD
    Blade = Shark Super Chrome (2) still felt a bit rough
    Passes = 3+
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum was the only A for April, rinse, pat dry, Thayers
    ASL = Clubman Pinaud
    Scent = Red Musk
    Score = 8 ½ only. Shaving was hard work today, but eventually a clean smooth shave was achieved

    Damage = One nick : central chin area, too much buffing

    Thoughts:
    1.Agree the synthetic works well with this soap and face lathering. Tabac was thinner today but still clogged the razor
    2. Maybe this tallow soap is better with and OC / SE or for those that use straight razors
    3. I still think I do better with a better preshave prep. More to experiment with

    Have a great weekend everyone

    Great comments Barry. I do like the way one needs to adapt to the different hardware and software, that's the fun of this hobby. One day I might settle down to one soap one brush one razor one blade and find another hobby...If you Have To Shave everyday might as well make it interesting

    Very nice shave Chris.
    Terrific shave Chris.

    When it comes to face lathering, I have the mindset that if I think I have enough soap, then I don't. Therefore, I continue loading beyond that point so that I have enough soap on my brush. In any event, if during your shave the soap thins out, then you can always go back to the puck.

    Shaving Recipe for today.

    Pre:
    Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
    Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
    Brush: Semogue 1250.
    Bowl Lather.
    Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
    Lather: Razorock "What The Puck?!"Orange Sunrise Shaving Soap.
    Blade: KCG. (D1)
    Razor: King C Gillette.

    Post:
    Cold Water Face & Head Rinse./Cold water face & Head wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Spring/Summer mix~) Lemon, Eucalyptus, Tea Tree, Essential Oils.5 Menthol Crystals Mixed Together With Care+Witch Hazel./Duru Mandarin Cologne./Lucky Tiger Aftershave & Face Tonic./ Aloe Vera Cooling Gel.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A new eclectic shave set up to start the Weekend....It's been some time since I used the Razorock "WTP?!" soap and forgot it takes a bit more time to build a lather, which for me isn't a big issue i find after the soap has been bloomed in tepid tap water for few minutes I'm rewarded with a rich, creamy slick protective lather with a good post shave feel.

    Maiden shave with the Semogue 1250 I gave the brush my pre-cleaning ritual a 10 minute soak in tepid water & pre-wash with baby shampoo, Dettol anti-bacterial & Palmolive hand bars soap leaving it to soak for a 5 minutes to get rid of any manufacturing nasties, remove any loose hairs repeated the process to remove the faint funky fragrance of which the pre-wash process removed completely and finally a rinse with warm & cold water to remove any soap residue, and finally removed any excess water with a towel then gave the tips of brush a vigorous rub to start the splitting process letting the brush fully dry out for 48 hours making it ready to use.

    I look forward to using the Semogue 1250 in my future shave set ups as I know it'll get better with each outing. The breaking in period with Semogue boars takes longer and tend to splay more than the Omega boars but still hold a good amount of backbone. Each shave performance, & feel from both the Semogue 1250 & Omega 10005 will continue to get better with each outing. Another excellent addition to my boar brush collection.

    Since I got the King C Gillette at Christmas and familiarised myself to it I've started to grow a fondness for it. For me it's a trio hybrid of the Edwin Jagger/Muhle R89 & Merkur 34C which all are superb razors in their own right. Aggression wise it's slightly more efficient than the three. Fitted with the King C Gillette blade makes a mild smooth yet efficient duo. A great razor & blade combo. I like the KCG blades.

    A close comfortable combined face & head shave with no errors to report.

    Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Aloe Vera Cooling Gel.

    My face & precious swede are both feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Congrats on your new Semogue boar brush. Excellent shave and setup Barry. In my big haul that was piffed to me, I was given a King C Gillette razor. I am not going to use it because I am planning on giving it to someone who wants to learn how to wetshave. I have already disinfected it so I am waiting for him to let me know when I can come over to show him the process.

    Thank you Joe. The Semogue 1250 will only get better with each outing. A great new addition to my humble boar brush collection...The King C Gillette will be a great introduction razor for anyone starting out in wet shaving, especially if shown practical common-sense practice from your good-self.
