Tuesday August 16 - sort of Adjustable and Artisan August

Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black with SE comb plate / Supply Black Label (18)
    Brush: Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic
    Soap: MWF
Post: Osma alum, rinse, Portland General Store black willow bark toner
    Post post: NickStop styptic powder...

My last shave was last Tuesday, so exactly a week worth of stubble to mow. As usual, one pass left me looking reasonably presentable. However, I am running various errands today, so I did a second quick pass to get me to a DFS.

The blade is still doing fine. No complaints at all from the alum.

It is hot and muggy here, which always gives me a problem with skin oil and a bit of an acne flare-up. The PGS willow toner with its salicylic acid is just the ticket for that. After my shave, I used a cotton pad to apply the toner not just to the area I shaved but to my entire face, chest and shoulders. Problem solved.

So if the shave was fine, why did I need the styptic powder, you ask? Because my newly acquired young male Siamese cat was in a rambunctious mood. He came roaring through the bathroom and grabbed my bare leg in passing. Just being playful, but he didn't have his claws completely sheathed.... Cat staff person's tip: styptic pencils or powder can stop the blood flow from more than just shaving nicks and cuts...

Hope everyone has a good week!

Always nice to see the 'umble Tech getting some love. And if I haven't said so before, I think your shaving equipment photos are great; excellent close-up technique!

I was at the dentist this morning...met the knew office dog there. When I was led back to where she was she was sound asleep..I guess someone woke her up to come and meet me. They say she's real friendly, but she gave me a "I was sleeping, y'know???" look. But I think she liked when I was scratching her neck.

Menthol shave today using my 1954 Gillette SS Flare Tip.

Razor - 1954 Gillette SS Flare Tip
Blade - my last Big Ben blade 1st use
Soap - Proraso Menthol plus I added a spoon of TOBS Peppermint
    Pre-shave - Proraso Blue
Brush - Simpson "Berkeley" my smallest brush
Post-Shave - Thayers toner & Geo F Trumper "Skin Food" Sandalwood
    AS Pinaud Clubman "Vanilla"

Washed face with cool water and soaked the brush to saturate it. Then I pushed the Peppermint cream to the bowl and started loading the brush in the Menthol tub and then lathering in my lather bowl. I had to add a few splashes of water but soon I had some nice creamy lather. The Proraso Blue mildly cools the face and combined with the menthol & Peppermint made for a nice cooling sensation on my face. I did a 2-pass shave with no cleanup WTG & ATG for a nice smooth face. Zero feedback from alum bar. No cuts, nicks, or weepers. A very pleasant shave.

Now to figure what razor to use tomorrow...possible the 1930's New Model (Long Comb)

That's what I should have done, but I love the concept of office pets to visit patients. Course that dog didn't visit me, she was too into her sleep.I'll see her again in 6 months, I hope.
