    SRS # 746 - Affronted August Soap - Weekdays

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Taylor Eyewitness 1000
    Brush: Semogue Torga C5
Lather: Stonefield Soap Company North of Fifty
Aftershave: Stonefield Soap Company Norh of Fifty A/S Balm
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Humphreys Cucumber Melon Witch Hazel

The overall end result of this shave was very nice. The Taylor Eyewitness 1000 delivered a smooth and close shave without any incidents. The alum report was minor at best.

The challenge I experience with this shave had to do with the soap. Let me provide you with a little background on the soap. I received this soap in a raffle I had won over three years ago. I have used it a total of 5 times, twice in 2022.The scent of the soap has a strong pine smell. My first and second attempts with this ap produced a lather that gradually dissipated on my face as I shaved. During the past two shave this year, I have tweaked my method of producing a lather. First, I bloom the soap since it is a hard pick. With a damp brush, I take about 40 seconds to load up some soap from the tub. In my lather bowl I add some water and 5 drops of glycerin. Over the next minute or so I work the lather, gradually adding more water as needed. With this process I manage to get an acceptable amount of lather for three passes.

The jury is still out on this soap as I have many more user friendly soaps in my den. I will give it another try later in the year. I can always remove it from the tub to use as a hand soap.

If I do decide to keep it, based on my current usage of probably 2 or 3 times a year this soap won’t meet up with the Edmund Fitzgerald until around 2050.

    Have a great day gentlemen.

In tapping the soap 8 to 10 x, do you spread the tapping around the puck?

Y'know, there are some photos that have already been added to my computer(some of ME, others that I was trying to use for my "personality" here(like the mountain and lake you see on the left). Who was that member from Colorado who has 3 sons and loves Stoylin? He was my helper. I might try to monkey around with these photos with your instructions in mind, but Iwant to keep my current one here(mtn. and lake...in other words I don't want to mess with it).

Your comment made me think of a "loose cannon" fella we know who once told my Mom "I don't know what my plans are in the next hour and a half!". Course you're no loose cannon(long lung breath).

Wonderful MMOC shave this morning Hogie. I tend to bin my GEM blades after the 10th shave. I know they can go further.

Excellent shave Joe. There are some soaps that are destined to be trashed, piffed or relegated to bar soap status. I guess SSC North of Fifty fits all three scenarios. Enjoy the lovely LI weather today.

No, because the soap is so soft that you can manipulate the surface to be even with your fingers. However, you don't have to make the soap even because it gets real soft with repeated use.

Thanks guys! Nice quiet beach vacation in southern South Carolina. Beaches not crowded, streets not crowded, nothing like NJ/NY beaches. Very enjoyable.
