    DE Shave # 492 - Fougere Friday - Bonsai
    December Shave 1 of 15

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Merkur 37c Slant
    Blade: Shark Platinum
Brush: Jayaruh 410 with Omega #48 Boar
    Lather: FuzzyFace Soaps Bonsai
    Aftershave: Proraso Menthol and Eucalyptus
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

I plan on completing 15 shaves with the various DE razors that I have in both the Northern and Southern Dens. This morning the Merkur 37c, my first DE razor acquired in 1995, received the honor. Of course I had other DE razors growing up as a teenager in the 70’s but the magically disappeared from my parents home when I went off to college.

Three passes with the assistance of a glorious lather delivered an extremely close and comfortable shave. Yes, I have this razor dial in. This was not always the case as it learns toward the aggressive side.

Looking forward to seeing many great shaves on this thread during the month. Joe, @Trigger, leading off with another fine intro.

    Good afternoon.

    Gillette Heritage Razor
Gillette Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (5,6)
    Hembree Delrin/Maggard Timberwolf Brush
Captain's Choice North SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 23 hrs
    Dome Turf: 2 days

Although I usually do a headshave every 3 days, I decided to do one a day earlier to coincide with my face shave. I went with the Gillette Heritage Razor because I don't need an aggressive razor on a 2 day dome turf and a face stubble that is still socially acceptable.
I chose the Captain's Choice North set because I like the scent and the soap is very slick. Here's my lather:

I only needed a 2 pass face shave, but I still needed a 3 pass dome shave. The result was a cueball smooth dome shave and a near BBS face shave. There wasn't any blood during this session. The alum was silent except a zing under my chin. Witch hazel and the matching aftershave topped the shave. I am happy with the results. Tomorrow, I will be using a straight or one of my shavettes and I will be using either Stirling Tsuka or Stirling Spice. I am going to attend a single's Christmas dinner and I want to smell nice. Take care.

    Nice intro, Joe!

Not sure what I will do for a theme this month. I had been thinking of Decadent December, using all my fanciest stuff. Or maybe Defunct December, shaving with stuff that is no longer made. DE December had completely escaped my attention, since it is so entirely obvious....

Great pics and shaves to start us off, gents!

Gary, what does Royal Copenhagen smell like?

Love the handle on that Jayaruh brush, Joe!

It looks like Captain's Choice North is maybe a juniper and pine scent?

    thanks Joe.

Nice to see another 37C in action Joe!

Nice shave Joe, Tsuka would qualify as Defunct December. Like your approach aiming for a socially acceptable shave, sometimes that is good enough.

Thanks John. Captain's Choice North is juniper forward with some type of evergreen scent in the background. However, the juniper hides it well. This set would definitely qualify as part of Defunct December.
