Thank you. I've had the P&G Old Spice Whitewater for quite a few years now, launched in the 90's it has a fresh equatic scent to my sense of smell which is less spicy & warm than the original, but still has some of that Old Spice barbershop scent that I love...unfortunately to my knowledge it is no longer available, and if it is, it'll be on sale for a extortionate price.

SRS # 1008 - Sample Soap Sunday - MLS The Drunken Goat

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Genco - Getico 5/8”
    Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Monster 26mm
    Lather: MLS The Drunken Goat
    Aftershave: Floïd The Genuine
    Additional Care:
    Maggards Alum
    Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Excellent shave this morning in the Southern den. The RazoRock brush whipped up a wonderful lather. It is unfortunate that Mickey Lee Soapworks is no longer producing their products. I have two in my collection, The Drunken Goat and Reunion. Both produce wonder lathers.

I did my usual three pass shave with the Genco straight. I was rewarded with an error feee and super close shave.

I hope you all enjoy your Sunday. Joe, @Trigger, stay dry in that gale force wind monsoon you are having today.

Prep- Hot shower, Stirling Executive Man Soap
    Razor: 1967 Gillette Super Speed
Blade- Personna Lab Blue, first shave on blade
Two Pass Shave- One WTG, one XTG/ATG
    Brush: Semogue 1305 Boar
    Lather: Stirling Bay Rum
    Aftershave: Stirling Bay Rum
    Post: Stirling Bay Rum Balm
    Soundtrack- Yacht Rock Station, Spotify

First try with the Personna so I went with some trusted standbys that I use frequently. Stirling always gets the job done and the Bay Rum scents make me forget it’s winter for a while…

I can’t believe the streak I am having with blades. The Personna Lab Blue was “fantastic”. It almost seems to be in that elusive Goldilocks range for me. Effective as the Feather, but less blade feel on my face. Smooth and easy like the Kai or GSB but more efficient than both. All that at 1/3 the price of the Japanese blades.

I’m sitting here with the game on and an almost BBS feeling all around. And I didn’t even try that hard!

Going to do at least one more shave and probably two with this one.

Current standings with a surprise new contender!

    1- Personna Lab Blue
    2- Feather
    3- Kai
    4- Gillette Silver/Blue

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone!

Great pic and setup Hogie. We're going to get hit with plenty of rain here on Long Island. However, 7 inches of snow isn't a picnic in the park. Stay safe.

Awesome setup and shave Joe. Mickey Lee soaps had a great reputation. Unfortunately, he closed shop for personal reasons. As far as the LI rain and wind, I am staying home to ride it out.

Great shave Scott. I knew that you would like the Personna Lab Blue. Now you have 4 favorite brands of razors. By the way, the Stirling Bay Rum is very good. It is long lasting.

    Good afternoon.

1968 Gillette Slim Adjustable (setting 7)
Gillette Wilkinson Sword DE Blade (1,2)
    Stirling Boar Brush
Captain's Choice North SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs
    Done Turf: 3 days

It's a head and face shave day. I picked out my '68 Slim that was loaded with a new blade to deliver a nice result. I haven't used my Stirling Boar for quite some time so I decided to use it. The trick with natural hair brushes is to let it soak for about 5 minutes and then get rid of the excess water. I chose Captain's Choice North because the weather outside reminds me of a captain and his crew fighting the ocean waves. Plus the fact that it's a very good soap. Here's my lather:

    20231210_161054.jpg

I changed my routine for this session. I usually start and finish my face shave and afterwards, commence lathering and shaving my face. For the first time, I simultaneously lathered my face and dome to shave each section. I repeated the process for 2 more passes.
It was an interesting switch, but I prefer to concentrate on completing my face shave and then start to shave the dome. In any event, I got a nice, comfortable shave all around.

The alum feedback was evident on neck and dome, but it wasn't serious. Splashed on the witch hazel and the nice matching aftershave. All in all, it was definitely a change in my routine and may do it again. Take care.
