    That’s great news Joe! So happy that you decided to give yourself a holiday treat…

    Please post a review of the 45th parallel as soon as you can and let us know how it compares to Cella. I recently finished my tub of Cella and miss the scent in my den.

    I will. When I was at Pasteur's, I was going to pick this set, but I wanted to stay within my budget and got the Limoncello and Seaforth Spice Lime instead. I was tempted to buy the new Stirling Zenith brush collaboration, but I would have to order 75 dollars to get the free shipping and there wasn't a discount being offered. So that's when I decided to go with a Pasteur's order. I saved at least 35 dollars by not making a Stirling order.
    Btw, I have to thank Sinatra Lennon, who is a shaving you-tuber, that introduced me to the 45th parallel scent. He only has the aftershave. I figured since I liked the performance of my Captain's Choice North and I like the almond/cherry scent than the Capt. Choice 45th parallel set was a no brainer.

    This is my shave video for this afternoon's shave on Dec 11. I finally figured out how to download my shave videos much quicker and get it here the same day. I have to video it live and then it will download to me channel. Now, you guys will get the shave video the same day I performed it. I guess I will be doing more videos. Lol! https://www.youtube.com/live/0_P3YnBcF9M?si=vZwpoNavkgI1-vxQ

    I am looking forward to trying the Barbus shave cream in a tube. I still have Cremo and Mühle Sandalwood shave cream as well as Van der Hagen Shea Butter in my den. I love Cremo for headshaves. The Mühle is fine, but I will use the VdH Shea Butter as a pre-shave. However, I am sure Barbus will outshine these products.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head shave)

    Early morning Shave,

    My shaving set up this morning was absolutely brilliant!....I have mentioned before in many of my postings ,the vast majority of my shave set ups are very in-expensive. It just goes to show that you don't need expensive shaving items to get a good acceptable shave. It's all down to technique & shaving confidence.

    The inexpensive Gillette Guard was the star of the shave this morning leaving my head/dome super smooth...The efficiency difference of the Gillette Guard to the Treet Swift II Platinum is significantly more assertive with equal smoothness...However, I will continue to use the Treet Swift II Platinum until the end of the month...

    Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of blue Stratos ASL.

    My face is feeling cool smooth, & smelling divine.;)

    Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Rating: 5/5

    Razor: 1967 Gillette Super Speed
    Blade- Personna Lab Blue, second shave on blade
    Two Pass Shave- One WTG, one XTG/ATG
    Brush: Omega 10049 Pure Bristle Boar
    Lather: Arko puck
    Aftershave: Duru Limon Kolonya
    Post: Quinns Grapefruit Witch Hazel and Pinuad Citrus Musk EDC
    Soundtrack- Morning News

    Breaking in a new Boar Brush so here is a lather pic. My Semogue 1305 is 10 years old and starting to deteriorate, so will be working this new brush in. It’s very big and has a ton of backbone so it should eventually become a winner for me.

    Had another great shave today. Did a Turkish theme with the Arko and refreshing lemon kolonya. Very nice change of pace.

    The Lab Blue continues to impress. It’s still “very” sharp, and a careless stroke on the chin resulted in a weeper. My fault 100%. Blades usually get smoother but less sharp for me on shave two, but this one only got smoother.

    Continuing on for one more shave on this blade, and then trying the Wilkinson Sword. Let’s see if my streak holds out…

    Current standings, unchanged:

    1- Personna Lab Blue
    2- Feather
    3- Kai
    4- Gillette Silver/Blue

    Have a great day everyone!

    Prep = Cold Water Prep and shave, Tabac in a tube as Pre shave

    Soap / Cream = Clubman shave soap 59 gram
    Brush = Vulfix Old Original Sovereign 2189 synthetic travel with tube, 21 mm knot loft 47 mm, cute, works just fine
    Bowl = Rover Lathering bowl blue
    Razor = Gillette Rocket HD
    Blade = Bic (day 3)
    Passes = 3 +
    Post = Usual
    Scent = Proraso Cypress and Vetyver
    Damage = small weeper at the end of Pass 2 in the Nemesis zone 8. Trying too hard.

    Score = Still a 9/10

    Comments = The Bic is still smooth on day 3. Definitely needed more strokes per pass with the Rocket HD than with the more aggressive Rocca 96. Trying different angles of attack to the turf in Zone 8 led to a small weeper. Hauled out the Proraso repairing gel, needed to unplug the congealed gel from opening of the tube, but it worked fine. This gel needs to be kept sealed somewhere to stop it from drying out, similar to those superglue tubes… single use only

    Cute little brush, just the right size for the small Clubman puck and lathering bowl
    Slowly putting together a small travel set, my wife and I should be able to travel again soon after some health challenges this year. Deciding what to put in the Koby Lite toiletry bag
    Just got to think about travel options for ASL and colognes
    Have a great Tuesday one and all

    Awesome shaves and setups Barry! I also get a kick out of using inexpensive shaving gear and getting fine shaves. In fact, I will be using my $1.29 razor special from Dollar Tree this afternoon. Enjoy your afternoon.

    Superb shave set up Scott...+ 1 on the Turkish theme with the Arko and the Duru Lemon cologne...I'm a huge fan of Duru /Turkish Colognes ,Arko & Derby. I also like to use my Boar brushes with Turkish Soap too.

    Thanks Scott. It was just a fun test to see if I can break 11 minutes using an open blade. With over 1000 straight/shavette shaves, I am at a point where it's just like shaving with a safety razor. However, I remember when I started straight shaving 5 yrs ago, I was more tentative and my shave sessions took about 30 minutes. Today, I average about 15 minutes of shaving Nirvana. I hope that when you start straight shaving, that you will find how pleasurable it is to do so. As I have mentioned, it is a skill that requires steady hands and patience.
